iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak to be released at the upcoming Hack In The Box conference?

pod2g has been a busy man these days, and he has again updated his blog with some interesting information regarding the upcoming Hack In The Box security conference in Amsterdam.

The conference is slated to happen between May 21 through May 25 and will feature a variety of speakers and backing by high profile sponsors like Microsoft and RIM.

The real interesting part about all of this is that apparently there will be some big news related to jailbreaking unveiled at this year's conference. Could it have anything to do with the upcoming 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak?

Love him or hate him, i0n1c has skills. Want proof? A little over a half an hour ago he showcased his new iPad (iPad 3) running Cydia on iOS 5.1.1. Said firmware was just released. I understand that this is a result of being able to jailbreak 5.1, but the fact still stands that he has the talent that the jailbreak community could benefit from.

As you're probably well aware of, i0n1c has an interesting relationship with the jailbreak community. On one hand, he's a clearly talented hacker that can solve some of the most perplexing issues regarding iOS jailbreaking.

On the other hand, he continues to spite the community with rants about piracy, money, and an overall disdain towards jailbreaking in general...

Things are starting to pick up regarding the iOS 5.1 jailbreak, as we've just received word that pod2g has hit another major milestone in his efforts to hack the latest version of Apple's software.

A new version of the RedSn0w jailbreak tool was released today, bringing us a nice assortment of new features, and hinting at an even greater things to come...

Corona Updated to Bring Support for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0

It's a big day for Corona. After being updated this morning to fix the DRM issues in iBooks, Saurik just tweeted that the untether has been updated yet again, this time to resolve problems with the iPhone 4S running iOS 5.

Corona 1.0-8: @sbingner noticed that 1.0-6/7 failed on iPhone 4S 5.0 (the only supported 5.0 build; absinthe's Corona had worked): fixed. :(

If you're having problems with iBooks on your jailbroken device, you can install Corona directly from Cydia. If you've already installed Corona, you can simply update it via Cydia and you should be good to go.

Corona 5.0.1 Untether Updated to Fix iBooks DRM Issue

A couple days ago, RedSn0w was updated to fix the iBooks DRM issue where some images wouldn't display properly, or wouldn't even display at all. At the time, we noted that a Corona update shouldn't be too far out.

Saurik just announced on Twitter that Corona has been updated to version 1.0-7 to fix those issues mentioned above...

How to Jailbreak the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on Linux

Now that the Linux version of Absinthe has been released, all major platforms have access to the jailbreak tools needed to jailbreak their iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

We've already covered how to jailbreak on OS X and Windows in depth, but we didn't want to leave our Linux readers out in the cold.

Since there is no iTunes for Linux, things can be slightly more tricky, but it's still extremely easy to apply the Absinthe untethered jailbreak on Linux.
