Untethered

Dev Team Releases PwnageTool Jailbreak for iPhone 4.3.2

Sunday is "funday," so the iPhone Dev Team has just released an update to their PwnageTool jailbreak tool for Mac OSX users. PwnageTool 4.3.2 incorporates i0n1c's updated iOS 4.3.2 untethered exploit. The previous version of PwnageTool was only capable of a tethered jailbreak.

PwnageTool 4.3.2 will allow you to safely restore to an already jailbroken iOS 4.3.2 firmware and preserve your current 1.59.00 baseband so that you can use UltraSn0w to unlock your iPhone...

Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.2 with Sn0wBreeze 2.6

Just hours after the Dev Team updated RedSn0w, young iPhone hacker iH8Sn0w updated his own jailbreak tool, Sn0wBreeze, to version 2.6. This new version of Sn0wBreeze uses i0n1c's untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2.

For those of you that are not aware, Sn0wBreeze is a tool very similar to PwnageTool. Sn0wBreeze, a Windows-only jailbreak, allows you to update to the latest iOS while preserving your baseband, which is necessary if you want to unlock your iPhone.

Sn0wBreeze 2.6 will work for any device that supports iOS 4.3.2, except for the iPad 2...

Dev Team Fixes RedSn0w Untethered 4.3.2 Jailbreak for iPhone 4

Yesterday, the Dev Team released their RedSn0w untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 4.3.2. While the jailbreak was working fine with most devices, there seemed to be issues with the iPhone 4, which would randomly get stuck on reboot.

With the help of i0n1c, the Dev Team fixed RedSn0w and updated it to version 0.9.6rc14. If you already ran 0.9.6rc13, you can simply download RedSn0w 0.9.6rc14 and run it over the previous one...

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.2 with RedSn0w

Just about 4 days after Apple released iOS 4.3.2 for iPhone, an updated version of the untethered jailbreak has been released earlier today by iPhone hacker i0n1c. This untethered jailbreak was used by the Dev Team who also updated their jailbreak tool RedSn0w.

In this post, we will show you how to use RedSn0w to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.3.2. This jailbreak will work with any device on iOS 4.3.2, except for the iPad 2...

RedSn0w Updated to Support 4.3.2 Untethered Jailbreak

Only moments ago we told you that i0n1c released his untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2. The download that i0n1c posted consisted of the jailbreak code, instead of an actual tool for end users.

Right after i0n1c's release, the Dev Team has updated the RedSn0w jailbreak tool with iOS 4.3.2 support. RedSn0w will successfully jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 and is available on both Mac OS X and Windows.

i0n1c Releases iOS 4.3.2 Untethered Jailbreak [Not Really Usable As Is]

While most of you haven't yet upgraded to iOS 4.3.2, there are a few folks out there that did by either accident or design. The minor update only contained fixes for FaceTime and Verizon iPad 2 connection problems.

However, for those that have updated, there are certainly signs that a jailbreak for the new firmware is close. We told you a few days ago that iDevice hacker i0n1c had confirmed via Twitter that the new iOS is vulnerable to his untether used in the 4.3.1 jailbreak. Now he has released the untether for 4.3.2 for anyone interested...

iOS 4.3.2 Untethered Jailbreak Verified Working

Great news coming out of the Twitter-sphere today, as Stefan Esser, better known by his Twitter handle, @i0n1c, has confirmed that Apple has left his untether vulnerability in iOS 4.3.2.

That means that as our report speculated yesterday, an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.2 is possible, and will certainly be released sometime in the not-too-distant future.

According to Esser, his iPad 1 is already running iOS 4.3.2 with an untethered jailbreak.

The question is, when can the general public expect the next version of RedSn0w and PwnageTool?

iOS 4.3.2 Still Vulnerable to i0n1c’s Untethered Exploit?

Famous userland jailbreak hacker @Comex has just tweeted some interesting information regarding the status of i0n1c's iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak exploit.

According to @Comex, i0n1c's untethered jailbreak kernel exploit used in redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 doesn't seem to be patched yet in the new iOS 4.3.2 released earlier today...

Rebel SIM Provides Another iPhone Unlock Solution

With the iPhone Dev Team's inability to find a usable baseband exploit for the iPhone 4 and release a stable unlock for basebands 2.10.04, 3.10.01, and the newer 4.10.01, several alternate iPhone 4 unlock solutions have sprouted.

The first option was the Gevey SIM Interposer. Similar to a Turbo SIM, the Gevey SIM Interposer worked by adding a EEPROM chip to your SIM card. You would then call 112 from the Emergency Dialer screen. Once the call connected you would hang up then toggle Airport mode on and off. When the network connection resumed, your iPhone 4 would be unlocked.

This method would provide a "tethered" unlock, meaning that after you reboot your iPhone, you would need to repeat the unlock process. While the legality of the unlock solution was questionable at first, Dev Team member, MuscleNerd, confirmed the unlock method was illegal.

How to Update to iOS 4.3.1 and Preserve iPhone 4 1.59.00 Baseband [Tutorial]

Now that Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9  finally provides the long awaited iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak, many iPhone 4 owners with unlocked iPhones’ have been advised to hold off upgrading to 4.3.1 as you will lose the ability to unlock, since the newer firmware will update your baseband.

Furthermore, as we've mentioned earlier this morning, the new iOS 4.3.1 firmware currently is incompatible with the Dev Team's ultrasn0w unlock tool. It is recommended that you wait for the Dev Team to update this tool before upgrading and jailbreaking.

But for those anxious to update to the new iOS 4.3.1 firmware and still preserve their iPhone 4 1.59.00 baseband so they can be guaranteed an unlock when the Dev Team updates their ultrasn0w tool, follow our tutorial below.

Jailbreak iPhone iOS 4.3.1

After much anticipation, the iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak was released early this morning, but I guess the actual time depends on where you live.

This is the first untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.3.1. There have been other jailbreaks for iOS 4.3.1 but they were tethered and had issues with stability.

Finally, we have a stable and working iOS 4.3.1 solution; actually we have many solutions, as you'll see below. Big thanks to @i0n1c for his untether, and the iPhone Dev Team for their hard work at making this a reality...

Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 with Sn0wBreeze [Tutorial]

iH8sn0w has updated his Windows jailbreak tool, called Sn0wBreeze, with the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1. Sn0wBreeze is now the third tool available for an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1 (alongside PwnageTool and RedSn0w).

Sn0wbreeze 2.5 is hardly different from its last beta, except that is uses i0n1c's untethered exploit. An added bonus is that the hidden multitouch gestures in iOS 4.3 are enabled with Sn0wBreeze. These gestures were unearthed a couple of months ago, and iH8sn0w has found a way to enable them in his latest jailbreak tool.

Sn0wBreeze is not recommended for those wishing to preserve their unlock. Again, Sn0wBreeze is Windows only.
