Hacker Jake James gets time_waste tfp0 exploit working on iOS 12

Matrix code hacked iPhone.

It was only yesterday that talented hacker and iOS exploit tinkerer Jake James released time_waste, a reworked version of Brandon Azad’s oob_timestamp tfp0 exploit. Time_waste solves many of the memory leak issues that were present in the oob_timestamp exploit, and given the apparent enhancements, it’s not difficult to see why Pwn20wnd switched to using James’ exploit for the unc0ver jailbreak instead.

But while the aforementioned advantages are obvious, that didn’t stop James from taking things a step further. Just this afternoon, James announced via Twitter that he had managed to get the time_waste tfp0 exploit working on iOS 12; moreover, it even seems to play nicely with A8X-equipped devices:

Upcoming unc0ver update will support iOS 13.0-13.3 on A8X-A11 devices

Ever since the unc0ver jailbreak picked up support for iOS 13.0-13.3 with Brandon Azad’s oob_timestamp exploit (and more recently, Jake James’ time_waste exploit), this support has been limited to A12(X)-A13 devices. Pwn20wnd was rather noncommittal with regards to adding support for A8-A11 devices since they’re already supported by the bootrom exploit-based checkra1n jailbreak, but that could now be on the verge of changing.

According to Tweets shared just this morning by Pwn20wnd, it seems that support for A8X-A11 devices on iOS 13.0-13.3 is very near to becoming a reality:

Unc0ver update implements Jake James’ time_waste exploit, adds reliability improvements

Ever since the unc0ver jailbreak picked up support for iOS 13.0-13.3 on A12(X)-A13 devices with the help of Brandon Azad’s oob_timestamp exploit, Pwn20wnd has been releasing bug fix updates on a regular basis to address some of the issues reported by users. Today is no different.

Shared in a a series of Tweets this afternoon, Pwn20wnd announced the launch of unc0ver versions v4.1.0 and 4.1.1, with the latter being the newest:

Jake James rewrites oob_timestamp exploit as Pwn20wnd plans integration with unc0ver

Those who’ve been keeping close tabs on the jailbreak community as of late should be keenly aware of Brandon Azad’s oob_timestamp exploit, which made iOS 13.0-13.3 support for A12(X)-A13 devices via the unc0ver jailbreak possible. As wonderful as it is, the oob_timestamp exploit isn’t without its shortcomings, such as memory leaks.

Given the aforementioned circumstances, a series of Tweets shared early this morning by renowned hacker Jake James may be considered great news for the jailbreak community:

Diatrus to release a Cydia fork for checkra1n & unc0ver that works with Sileo

It was only a couple of days ago that the Sileo Team released a brand-new Sileo package manager installer for the checkra1n jailbreak. The updated installer, created with the help of prominent Sileo porter Diatrus, leaves most of checkra1n’s bootstrap components intact. On the other hand, the installer still upgrades APT to a version that is incompatible with the pre-installed Cydia package manager, thus uninstalling it in the process.

If you were hoping that you could finally use Sileo on your checkra1n device without having to uninstall Cydia, then the Sileo Team’s updated installer probably left you disappointed. Fortunately, Diatrus seems to be working on a solution that could answer the community’s cries to have both package managers present on the same checkra1n or unc0ver device.

Unc0ver v4.0.3 update resolves prominent App Store bug, and more

The unc0ver jailbreak only just picked up official support for iOS 13.0-13.3 on A12(X)-A13 devices this past weekend. Given just how young the new support is, it’s not overly surprising to learn that there were some bugs that needed to squashed.

In a Tweet shared just this afternoon, Pwn20wnd announced the release of an updated version of the unc0ver jailbreak dubbed version 4.0.3 with important bug fixes:

Unc0ver v4.0.2 released to address issues with jailbreaking iOS 13.0-13.2.3

The unc0ver jailbreak received official support for iOS 13.0-13.3 on A12(X)-A13 devices over the weekend thanks to Brandon Azad's OOB Timestamp tfp0 exploit, but from what we can gather, the release wasn’t without its initial flaws as a plethora of users reported issues when trying to jailbreak versions of iOS older than that of 13.3.

Fortunately for those affected by the aforementioned issues, Pwn20wnd has released yet another update for unc0ver to address them, this time bringing the jailbreak tool up to version 4.0.2. The hacker announced the update via Twitter just this afternoon:

Cydia Impactor and ReProvision allegedly working again for some users

In a somewhat miraculous turn of events, it appears that popular jailbreak-centric utilities including the likes of Cydia Impactor and ReProvision have started working again for some users.

The news came first by way of ReProvision lead developer Matt Clarke, who confirmed with us via email that ReProvision was actually alive and well again starting Sunday evening. Tweets shared publicly reveal that the tool was updated over the weekend to bypass the ‘that’s all folks’ message that denoted the tool’s EOL (end of life) and also that the tool wouldn’t be updated anymore if it broke a second time:

How to install the unc0ver jailbreak on iOS 11.0-14.8 with AltStore

The unc0ver jailbreak supports a semi-untethered jailbreak on iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3 and a fully unethered jailbreak on arm64e devices (iPhone XS and later) running iOS 14.4-14.5.1, which means that the tool is now compatible with all versions of iOS & iPadOS ranging from 11.0-14.3 (and 14.4-14.5.1 with a big asterisk). To date, AltStore is the best and most reliable way to install the unc0ver jailbreak app on your iPhone or iPad.

As long as your iPhone or iPad is running running iOS or iPadOS 12.2 or later, then you can use AltStore to install the unc0ver jailbreak, and in this tutorial, we walk you through the steps necessary to make it happen so you can reap all the benefits.

Unc0ver jailbreak updated to v4.0.1 with bug fixes and improvements

It was only yesterday that Pwn20wnd released unc0ver v4.0.0 to the general public with official support for iOS 13.0-13.3 on A12(X)-A13 equipped devices. In doing so, unc0ver became the first public jailbreak to support A13 devices, and also the first public jailbreak to support iOS 13 on A12(X) devices. But that’s old news now.

On Sunday, Pwn20wnd released a small update for the unc0ver jailbreak, officially bringing it up to version 4.0.1. The hacker announced the latest update via Twitter earlier in the afternoon:

Unc0ver v4.0.0 adds support for A12(X)-A13 devices on iOS 13.0-13.3

Those who’ve keenly waited for the unc0ver jailbreak to officially support A12-A13 devices running iOS 13.0-13.3 devices by way of Brandon Azad’s oob_timestamp tfp0 exploit will be happy to know that the wait is finally over.

In a Tweet shared just this afternoon, project lead developer Pwn20wnd launched unc0ver v4.0.0 with support for the aforementioned device types and firmware versions:
