Following weeks of testing, Apple today released new software updates: iOS 12.1.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, iOS 12.1.3 for HomePod, macOS Mojave 10.14.3 for Mac, watchOS 5.1.3 for Apple Watch and tvOS 12.1.2 for the fourth-generation Apple TV and Apple TV 4K . While mostly about bug fixes that improve your security, these minor software updates are worth the time because they happen to boost the stability, performance and reliability of your devices.
tvOS 12.1.1 beta 4 for Apple TV now available
A fourth beta of the upcoming bug-fix tvOS 12.1.1 software update for the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV is now available for developer testing. The over-the-air update with build number 16K5045a can be downloaded and installed on your Apple TV by using Apple's standard Software Update mechanism within the Settings app. The standalone installer is available through Apple's Development Center portal.
Apple starts testing first betas of iOS 12.1.1, tvOS 12.1.1 & macOS Mojave 10.14.2 [U]
Apple on Wednesday pushed first betas of what would become the minor iOS 12.1.1, tvOS 12.1.1 and macOS Mojave 10.14.2 updates. The betas are available to Apple's registered developers and members of the Apple Developer Program. Public betas should follow shortly after the developer builds, but you'll need to register with the Apple Beta Software Program.
Apple brings tvOS 12 to Apple TV
It's official. Apple has released the tvOS 12 update for Apple TV. The release is mostly minor, although it does offer one important new feature for film aficionados, the introduction of Dolby Atmos support.
The new update, with a build number of 16J364, includes:
Dolby AtmosAlong with support for Dolby Atmos, Apple promises to add the most extensive collection of Dolby Atmos-supported movies beginning this fall.
Once tvOS 12 has been installed, you can set up Dolby Atmos on your Apple TV by going into the Settings app under Video & Audio.
Other new featuresTvOS 12 also introduces new aerial screensavers in partnership with the International Space Station. Additionally, existing screensavers now include location information to let you know where each has been captured.
You can download and install tvOS 12 by visiting the Settings app on your device.
1) On Apple TV 4K or Apple TV (4th generation), go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.
2) Select Download and Install. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update. Don't disconnect or unplug your Apple TV until the upgrade completes.
3) Wait for the update to install.
