T-Mobile to reportedly install unlocked iPhone displays in stores

By all accounts, T-Mobile isn't getting the iPhone this year. The carrier will once again be put on the sidelines this month as the other three major US operators prepare for Apple's massive handset launch.

But that hasn't kept T-Mobile from trying to get in on the action. Yesterday, it started distributing iPhone-friendly nano SIM kits to retailers. And according to a new report, it's also prepping in-store iPhone displays...

T-Mobile reportedly has iPhone 5 response in the works

T-Mobile USA, the nation's third-largest telco and the only major U.S. carrier with no official iPhone offering, is allegedly looking to counter Apple's rumored September 12 introduction of a sixth-generation iPhone and the subsequent September 21 availability.

The word on the street is that the carrier is putting in motion its mysterious "iPhone Response — Phase 2" plan, scheduled for September 21 through October 1. If true, this new intel points away from a T-Mobile iPhone, just as Sanford C. Bernstein’s analyst Craig Moffett opined back in July...

T-Mobile preparing “Bring your iPhone to T-Mobile” campaign

It's starting to look more and more likely that T-Mobile will once again not be receiving an iPhone nod from Apple this year, making it the last major carrier in the US without the handset.

But it's not going to take this lying down. Recently-leaked flyers show that the carrier is about to launch a "Bring Your iPhone to T-Mobile" campaign, with an emphasis on plan price."

T-Mobile to start offering 4G micro SIM kits for unlocked iPhones

Last week, T-Mobile announced that it was going to begin offering truly unlimited data plans on September 5th. It says the plans will work in conjunction with 4G data speeds, and promises that users will never be throttled.

Well, good news today for current or potential iPhone customers on the network. According to a new report, the carrier is about to start offering 4G micro SIM kits, compatible with its unlimited plans, for unlocked iPhone users...

T-Mobile to start offering new truly unlimited data plans September 5

The unlimited data plan, for all intents and purposes, is dead on two of America's largest wireless carriers. Both AT&T and Verizon recently switched to Shared data plans, and they're not looking back.

But while other operators are eradicating the unlimited plan, T-Mobile is embracing it. The carrier just announced that it is going to start offering new unlimited, unthrottled data plans next month...

Major US carriers, Google form mobile payments alliance, Apple not on board

In another sign that the industry has high expectations for mobile payments, four major carriers in the United States along with Google and a bunch of other players have struck a mobile payments alliance called Mobile Payments Committee.

The initial members include carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile USA, but also Google, Isis, VeriFone and PayPal, in addition to financial institutions Wells Fargo and Capital One plus credit card giants American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Apple is conspicuously absent from the list, as is mobile payment startup Square, which last week announced an interesting partnership with Starbucks. The iPhone maker, of course, is believed to be putting NFC circuitry inside the next iPhone and just recently acquired NFC and smart sensors maker AuthenTec for $356 million...

T-Mobile not seen landing the iPhone before 2013

T-Mobile USA, the nation's fourth largest telco, is not seen getting Apple's smartphone this year, despite paying dearly for network upgrades to support 3G data speeds on the iPhone and testing its iPhone-friendly data service at WWDC. The news doesn't bode well for the Deutsche Telekom-owned carrier, conspicuously the sole major U.S. wireless company without Apple's device...
