After initially releasing a World Cup 2014 themed update to its free iPhone and iPad application, FIFA in keeping true to its promise this morning posted another update ahead of the 2014 World Cup Brazil, which kicks off with a match between the Brazilian host team and Croatia tomorrow.

The refreshed version 2.1 build includes support for live-streamed content, push notifications for your favorite teams, interactive voting for Man of the Match and more...

The official FIFA app for iOS has been updated ahead of the upcoming 2014 World Cup, which kicks off with a match between the Brazilian host team and Croatia (my home country) next Tuesday, June 12.

In addition to keeping you in the loop on the latest news concerning the upcoming matches, the free iPhone and iPod touch application, now bumped to version 2.0, offers detailed information about players and coaches from all 32 competing teams, a schedule of all 64 games, trivia about the stadiums and cities and much more...

Apple, Google and others pledge $2M to hold Super Bowl 50 in Bay Area

According to a new report from the San Jose Mercury News, Apple has joined Google and other tech companies who have pledged $2 million in cash and services to help offset taxpayer costs of hosting Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco.

The Bay Area Super Bowl Host committee announced that is has raised $40 million for the event, which will be held at the 49ers' newly-built Levi's Stadium in 2016. The venue is less than 15 miles away from Apple's Cupertino campus...

After highlighting last month the many ways mountaineers use iPad for their extraordinary climbs, Apple last night refreshed its 'Your Verse' microsite with a new feature outlining how the popular post-PC device is being used to help diagnose athletes' concussions.

In time for March Madness, the ACC Digital Network has partnered with Apple on enabling an ACC Sports channel on the company's $99 media-streaming box.

The ACC Sports channel, now live for Apple TV users in the United States, gives you access to highlights, updates, analysis and feature programming from Atlantic Coast Conference colleges, updated daily.

The channel promises hundreds of videos to choose from. Specifically for March, host Jeff Fischel and former ACC basketball greats Drew Barry and JR Reid will follow ACC teams as they advance throughout the tournament with game previews, analysis and a 'Road to Texas' feature series...

MLB Advanced Media teases upcoming RBI Baseball reboot

Earlier this year, the MLB and its in-house development studio MLB Advanced Media announced that they would be teaming up to revive the classic RBI Baseball franchise. The game series, which first debuted on the NES in 1986, hasn't seen a new addition in nearly 20 years.

But that's set to change soon with RBI Baseball 14 for mobile devices and consoles. And judging by the comments made by MLBAM's VP of games Jamie Leece today, it's going to feature the same fast-paced gameplay and simple controls that users loved about the original title...

Tony Hawk working on new skateboarding game for mobile devices

Skateboarding legend and mogul Tony Hawk revealed last night that he's working on a new skateboarding game for mobile devices. During an interview with Larry King, Mr. Hawk said that the game will have swipe-based controls and is coming this year.

Unfortunately, very few other details are known about the game—we're not even sure if it's going to launch under the familiar 'Tony Hawk Pro Skater' branding—but given Hawk's track record, we're excited. We have a clip of the Larry King interview below...

In time for the start of the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) season, the official MLB.com At Bat app has finally received its long-expected iOS 7-focused redesign. This is a major refresh as the app was last updated in October 2013.

MLB.com At Bat version 7.0, now available free in the App Store, has hit a home run for iOS 7 with a brand new interface (flatter, of course), a new league-wide scoreboard functionality and inline video playback.
