Sileo

Check out the latest news and tutorials about Sileo, a refined package manager app that can be installed on jailbroken iPhones and iPads to browse repositories and find jailbreak tweaks and themes.

Sileo was made to replace Cydia on modern iterations of iOS and iPadOS, and feels faster and smoother thanks to its native and intuitive design.

CoolStar to release open-source Chimera13 jailbreak in memory of @s0uthwes

Just over two weeks ago, Electra Team lead developer CoolStar announced that the Chimera13 jailbreak wouldn’t be released to the general public. But due to some rather unfortunate circumstances that transpired this past week, that mindset appears to be changing.

From what we can gather, @s0uthwes a respected and talented developer of the jailbreak community and a maintainer of the popular TSSChecker and futurerestore utilities, has passed away. He was fighting incurable aggressive leukemia, and unfortunately, succumbed to the ailment.

It was only last month that Pwn20wnd released an updated version of the unc0ver jailbreak with official support for iOS 13.0-13.3 on a plethora of different device types. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t long before CoolStar began hyping Chimera13 – a project that was expected to add similar device and firmware support to the Electra Team’s competing jailbreak solution.

But citing a series of Tweets shared by Electra Team lead developer CoolStar on Tuesday, it seems that Chimera13 won’t be released to the general public after all:

How to get Cydia running alongside Sileo on checkra1n

In case you missed it, the Sileo Team has officially released Diatrus’ Cydia fork that permits checkra1n jailbreak users to have both the Cydia and Sileo package managers running on the same device. This was a historic moment for the Sileo Team because it’s the first time that an official solution of this magnitude has ever been released for a jailbreak not created by the Electra Team.

If you’re using the checkra1n jailbreak and you want to have both the Cydia and Sileo package managers present on your device, then you’ve come to the right place. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how.

If you’re using the checkra1n jailbreak and you’ve been on the fence about using the Sileo Team’s brand-new installer to get Sileo on your iPhone or iPad because of its conflicts with the pre-installed Cydia package manager, then we’ve got good news for you!

With the help of prominent Sileo porter Diatrus, the Sileo Team has officially launched a new Cydia fork on its GetSileo repository that will allow checkra1n devices to run both Cydia and Sileo side-by-side on the same device using the same version of APT.

Diatrus to release a Cydia fork for checkra1n & unc0ver that works with Sileo

It was only a couple of days ago that the Sileo Team released a brand-new Sileo package manager installer for the checkra1n jailbreak. The updated installer, created with the help of prominent Sileo porter Diatrus, leaves most of checkra1n’s bootstrap components intact. On the other hand, the installer still upgrades APT to a version that is incompatible with the pre-installed Cydia package manager, thus uninstalling it in the process.

If you were hoping that you could finally use Sileo on your checkra1n device without having to uninstall Cydia, then the Sileo Team’s updated installer probably left you disappointed. Fortunately, Diatrus seems to be working on a solution that could answer the community’s cries to have both package managers present on the same checkra1n or unc0ver device.

Sileo v1.7.1 officially released for Chimera and checkra1n jailbreak users

The Sileo Team took to Twitter late Wednesday evening to share that it had released an updated version of the Sileo package manager dubbed v1.7.1 with various improvements, but that wasn’t all. The Tweet also noted that the new Sileo build was available for both Chimera and checkra1n jailbreak users.

The Sileo Team attempted a checkra1n port for its Sileo package manager just before the new year, and despite a flaky initial release that quickly crashed and burned, it now seems that the Sileo Team is making a second attempt – this time with some help from Diatrus, a name that might sound familiar if you’ve ever used an unofficial Sileo port before.

Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver jailbreak has enjoyed being the center of attention for the past couple of weeks thanks to newfangled iOS 13.0-13.3 support on A12(X)-A13 devices by way of Brandon Adad’s oob_timestamp tfp0 exploit, but it might not be the only jailbreak in town for long.

Electra Team lead developer CoolStar took to Twitter Monday evening to share a teaser screenshot of what appears to be Chimera13 running on iPadOS 13:

Sileo v1.7.0 beta 2 brings further speed improvements to the app

The Sileo Team pushed an updated public beta version of the Sileo package manager for the Electra (iOS 11) and Chimera (iOS 12) jailbreaks Sunday evening, officially bringing the project up to version 1.7.0 beta 2.

The announcement, shared mere minutes ago via the Sileo Team’s official Twitter page, denotes several improvements in the latest beta release:

Sileo port for checkra1n discontinued, future update could Frankenstein the checkra1n bootstrap

At the end of 2019, the Sileo Team launched a botched tool that could be used to port the Sileo package manager onto the bootrom exploit-based checkra1n jailbreak. The launch wasn’t as seamless as some would have hoped, lacking synergy with the official checkra1n installer app. Moreover, it uninstalled Cydia and checkra1n resources in place of Sileo and its own dependencies with seemingly no obvious way of reverting.

Those who’ve been following the progress of Sileo for checkra1n closely may have noticed a peculiar Tweet by way of the Sileo Team’s official Twitter account early Thursday morning:

How to get Sileo on the checkra1n jailbreak

In case you haven’t already heard, the Sileo Team’s Sileo package manager is now officially available for iOS 13 for the first time on the bootrom exploit-based checkra1n jailbreak, and it’s the first time Sileo has been made available for a jailbreak not authored by the Electra Team.

If you’re interested in getting Sileo on your checkra1n device immediately, then you’ve come to the right place. This step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the steps to do so.
