Is Apple prepping to refresh Thunderbolt Display?

Apple hasn't refreshed the beautiful Thunderbolt Display since its July 2011 debut. That could change soon, however, as shipping times for the Thunderbolt Display have risen sharply across its European stores.

As first noted by German blog Macerkopf.de, customers in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, the United Kingdom and other major markets in Europe are now faced with an eight-day delay when ordering a Thunderbolt Display.

Apple launches new Trade Up With Installments 24-month iPhone payment plan

CNET is reporting that Apple is launched a new iPhone payment plan, the Trade Up With Installments program, that gives users the option of unloading their old phone to get a brand new iPhone for an outlay of less than about $35 a month.

The program, CNET explains, was designed for people who have older-generation iPhones and lets these customers hand over their old iPhone, Android or Microsoft Windows phone device in exchange for credit toward a new iPhone purchase. It's currently available in the United States through Apple's official retail stores.

Apple removes iPhone 4s and iPhone 5c from sale in India as iPhone 5se launch looms

In India, Apple has stopped selling the iPhone 4s, which debuted in the fall of 2011, as well as the unapologetically plastic iPhone 5c, The Economic Times reported Tuesday. In withdrawing its most affordable handsets from the 1.25 billion people country—the world’s third market for smartphones and the fastest-growing smartphone market in the world—Apple is looking to boost its average selling price and profitability “which have been under strain in the country lately,” stated the report.

Apple files application to open retail stores in India

Apple has filed an application with India's department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) to build and operate its own retail stores in the populous country, India Times reported Wednesday.

Apple is also seeking to sell its products online in India. The official move is the culmination of Apple's multi-year effort to bring the official retail presence to shoppers in the 1.25 billion people market.

Apple Stores to offer iPhone photography and iPad illustration workshops next year

As part of a major retail streamlining under the watchful eye of Apple's head of online and brick-and-mortar stores, Angela Ahrendts, the company will be hosting a number of workshops next year at its stores that will take its existing and basic photography workshops to the next level.

The new workshops were designed to teach customers about the tips and tricks concerning iPhone photography, as well as drawing, painting and sketching on an iPad, with the promise of giving customers “at all skill levels” a chance to learn about more advanced image-capturing techniques, CNET said today.

Microsoft Store employees make a peace offering to their Apple Store peers in holiday video

Following Apple's holiday ad featuring Stevie Wonder and Andra Day, rival Microsoft today released its own holiday-themed commercial in which employees of its retail store on New York City's Fifth Avenue are shown spreading the message of peace outside of Apple's iconic glass cube store.

As reported by AdAge, Microsoft flew store employees from around the country to New York City to film this commercial on November 16.

Apple honors World AIDS Day with (RED) apps, products, accessories and more

Apple logos on the company's retail stores around the world have turned bright red today, and that means one thing: it's honoring the World AIDS Day. In the App Store, Apple and (RED) joined forces with developer Supercell, with 100 percent of proceeds from customers who buy (RED) packs for Supercell's games going to the Global Fund to fight AIDS.

Apple partnering with local retailer Croma to set up first stores in India next month

At long last, first Apple Stores are about to launch in India, home to population of 1.25 billion people. As reported by The Economic Times, Apple Stores will be debuting in India in partnership with Tata-owned consumer electronics chain Croma, which will host Apple products at six of its locations as a pilot.
