Redesign

Have you seen Pinterest’s new-look iOS app yet?

Pinterest today announced a completely overhauled iPhone and iPad application—“our fastest, cleanest app yet”—that lets you focus on more Pins than ever before. The app, used by more than a hundred million people around the world, is a lot faster than the previous version it replaced, with your Home feed now loading up to three times faster.

The refreshed application is now rolling in the App Store so check back later if the new version isn't immediately available where you live. The Android edition of Pinterest and its web-based counterpart are next on Pinterest's list to tackle, though they wouldn't commit to a firm release dates for these.

Check out redesigned account pages on Apple’s Developer Center portal

Apple's Developer Center portal has received a facelift last evening with reports of much revamped account pages. The redesigned account section on Dev Center has at last adopted a more user friendly two-column layout, with links to the most important account-related sections now conveniently provided in the lefthand column.

The navigation column is divided in two sections: Program Resources and Additional Resources. In your Program Resources, you'll find such sections as Overview, Membership, iTunes Connect, CloudKit Dashboard, Code-Level Support and Certificates, IDs & Profiles.

PayPal app redesign adds new start screen, ‘one-click’ cash request, & more

The PayPal app for iOS, which has been long over-due for an update, has finally received its much-needed update on Thursday that adds official support for the retina HD displays of Apple's 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch handsets.

The app, which is still a free download from the App Store, has been completely redesigned with a slew of changes to make using the app not only feel better, but look better.

Apple rolls out refreshed Mac App Store design for OS X Yosemite

Late Wednesday evening, Apple began rolling out a refreshed UI design for its Mac App Store in OS X Yosemite. Following up last month's OS X update, the new Mac App Store look features flatter graphics, thinner font styling, and tons of white space.

As you can see in the screenshot above, Apple has done away with skeumorphic elements like shadows and well-defined tables, in favor of thin gray lines. The new UI feels faster, lighter and more streamlined, and again more in line with OS X Yosemite.

Apple rolls out new design for its Support Communities website

Following a report yesterday regarding incoming improvements to the AppleCare program and its customer support tools, Apple has rolled out an update to its Support Communities website that includes a fresh new design.

The new look is cleaner and more streamlined than its predecessor, which makes for easier navigation, and it extends throughout the portal. It even reaches the forums, where users congregate to resolve various problems...

Twitter rolls out revamped web profiles, coming to mobile in a few months

Micro-blogging service Twitter today started gradually rolling out redesigned profile pages on the web to its 241 million strong user base. The redesign looks much better than the old profile pages that weren't very functional.

You can now express yourself better by uploading a larger profile photo, customizing your header image, showing off your best tweets, pinning one of your tweets to the top of your page and more.

In addition to bigger photos and tweet positioning, other enhancements include filtered tweets and other goodies allowing your visitors and followers to learn everything you deem important about yourself...

A year later, Facebook finally starts rolling out revamped News Feed to everyone

Precisely 364 days ago, Facebook held an event announcing a major redesign which promised to turn your News Feed into a "personalized newspaper." As we noted in our hands-on with the new News Feed, the  two-column layout featured prominent shortcuts to your About, Friends and Photos sections, with all-new Movies, Books and Photos items in your About view indicating what you read, watched and shared. There was also an Instagram Timeline app and a few other tweaks.

The problem is, users hated it so Facebook has never gotten around to rolling it out to its 1.2 billion users (it was enabled for a single-digit percentage of Facebook users). After spending months refining its look and implementing changed based on user feedback, Facebook on Thursday has finally begun switching its user base to the new News Feed where your "stories have a streamlined look with bigger photos"...

Twitter caught testing major Facebook-like redesign

I'm not big into social networking—Facebook, Path, Instagram, etc.—but I'm a longtime and frequent user of Twitter. I could give you a dozen reasons why I like it, but it comes down to its pool of high-profile users and its in-line streaming design.

That design, however, could be going by the wayside in the not-too-distant future. Twitter has been caught testing a major redesign for user profiles and tweet streams which features larger photos, rearranged tweets, and several other UI changes...

Apple officially launches iOS 7-inspired iCloud.com

On the eve of the official launch of iOS 7, Apple has rolled out a new version of iCloud.com to the public. The redesign, which has been in beta for several months now, brings new icons and other elements inspired by tomorrow's update.

Additionally, every web app has been rebuilt to match its mobile counterpart, including Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Reminders and Find My iPhone. And the wallpaper now mirrors the dynamic, slow-moving wallpaper in iOS 7 as well...

Apple revamps its bug-reporting tool Radar

Apple's Bug Report is among more than a dozen services that were disrupted during a ten-day Dev Center outage earlier this month. The web-based tool, also known under the 'Radar' moniker, gives Apple's registered iOS and OS X developers the official venue to file all sorts of bug reports.

The improved version of Bug Reporter went live after this year's WWDC, but soon got pulled because- oh, the irony - it was riddled with bugs. The old, pre-WWDC Bug Report had long been a running joke.

Seriously, it was so bad that a few hundred developers signed a 'Fix Radar or GTFO' petition demanding that Apple squash pesky bugs and rethink the tool with a more intuitive approach. The redesigned version has now gone live for all developers with an Apple Developer Account, featuring improved searching, attachments and other improvements...

Apple rolls out revamped AppleCare support website with 24/7 live chat

Earlier this month a reliable blogger asserted Apple would be making changes to its support website. The new experience was to be focused on a simpler and cleaner design that's iOS-friendly so customers could access the many support materials and browse the various sections comfortably from their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. Sure enough, and right on cue, Apple this morning has started rolling out a redesigned Apple Support website with non-stop live chat support.

The redesign calls for large thumbnails providing easy access to the product hubs, such as Macs, iTunes, iPods, iPhones, iPads and more, with each section containing a wealth of related support materials, like downloads, manuals, frequently asked questions and lots more...

Apple revamps support pages on its website

Following the flattening of both the iOS software which powers iDevices and Jony Ive's title (now shortened to SVP of Design), Apple seems adamant to remove shine and gloss across its marketing communications and visual communication channels.

A slight revamp of the online Apple Store for Father's Day was obviously a sign of things to come as the company has now tweaked the appearance of a number of support pages on its website - again, adopting the simpler two-dimensional appearance reminiscent of iOS 7...
