Poll: Should iDB Report Apple Rumors?

Up until Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S last month, the internet was flooded with rumors about the new device. Some rumors turned out to be true, others (most of them) were just plain BS.

We reported on all of these rumors because we thought it was our duty to inform you so that you could make the decision on whether a particular rumor was well founded or not. But by the time Apple showed the iPhone 4S to the world, we were all burned out by the rumor mill. We iDB writers were tired of them all, so we decided not to publish rumors any more.

If you're a regular reader, you have probably noticed that we haven't published many rumors lately. We just published the one or two that came from trusted sources, like The Wall Street Journal or The New York Times. Everything else hasn't made it on iDB.

But for every rumor we don't publish, we receive a few emails tipping us about those exact stories. We always thought that, like us, you were tired of these rumors, but apparently not, which is why we'd like to get your opinion on the matter...

Have you Upgraded to iOS 5?

Apple officially released iOS 5 yesterday, with several new features including, iCloud, iMessage, Notification Center, Reminders, Newsstand, Twitter integration, and much more. Since the release of the new iOS update, Apple servers have been getting smashed with the amount of people trying to download and install the new OS.

While many of you have reported troubles with updating to the new OS, we'd like to see just how many of you have upgraded, or haven't upgraded...

Poll: Would You Buy a Factory Unlocked iPhone for $649?

We reported a couple days ago that Apple might start selling factory unlocked iPhones in the US, just like it has been in many countries for over a year. Obviously, there would be an additional cost to that.

Looking at what the iPhone 4 sells for in Canada, both locked and factory unlocked, I assume that if the iPhone 4 is available, unlocked, in the US tomorrow, it will probably sell for $649 for the 16GB version or $749 for the 32GB...

Poll: Do You Think Apple Will Unveil the iPhone 5 Next Week?

Apple is having its annual WWDC event next Monday and we already know that Steve Jobs is going to be there to announce the company's new iCloud service as well as the long expected iOS 5.

Rumors about a possible iPhone 5 launch are going crazy. If there is a big unknown for the WWDC, it is Apple's next flagship device. With conflicting reports, it's hard to tell whether or not we'll have a new iPhone this summer...

How Much Data Do You Use on Your iPhone?

While the amount of data smartphone owners used each month wasn't relevant until last June of 2010 when AT&T announced a 2GB data cap, it is now.

If you're an iPhone user that often streams video, audio and download files from the internet, you probably keep a close eye on your data usage. If you're a new iPhone owner and have no idea of how to check the amount of data you've used for your current billing cycle, its fairly simply. There are several ways to check your data usage.

Has Your iPhone Battery Life Improved in iOS 4.3.1?

Now that you've had a couple of days with iOS 4.3.1, for those of you that updated, we're wondering how the latest OS is going for you so far.

When iOS 4.3 was released, there were several bugs/issues reported by the iPhone community in the new OS, one of the major ones being poor battery life. At the time, a good amount of early iOS 4.3 adopters attributed the poor battery life to auto-lock issues, causing the screen to stay on for hours at a time. The problem seemed to be affecting only iPhone and iPod Touch 4G owners.

Poll: Did You Pre-Order a Verizon iPhone 4?

Verizon started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4 earlier today. While I suspect they won't sell as many as AT&T did in the past on their first day, I'm still pretty sure some of you will jump ships and leave AT&T for a supposedly better carrier.

Please take a few seconds of your time to take this poll, and let us know if you have or intend to pre-order a iPhone 4 with Big Red today...

Poll: Will You Get the Verizon iPhone?

The Verizon iPhone was finally announced this morning, and even though it doesn't bring anything new to the table, some people will probably jump ships to leave AT&T for Big Red.

We created a simple poll to get a feel of what you guys are going to do. Are you going to flee AT&T? Will you stick to it? Please take a few seconds of your time to take this poll...

Poll: What Do You Think of Apple’s Day “You’ll Never Forget”?

The news fell a little earlier today. The Beatles are now available on iTunes. Hippie! Yippie! Looking at the comments on our post about it, and also at people's reaction on Twitter, I sense that most of you aren't really happy about this.

To me, as a consumer, it's a big disappointment. I understand it's a big deal for the music industry but who cares? We're not music industry execs.

I never sat down and said to myself "gosh I wish the Beatles were on iTunes". No, I just inserted every Beatles' CD in my computer years ago and digitalized all of them. Done. I never thought about it again.

But this news is not just about me. It's about all of us, so let's see what you have to say...

LimeRa1n vs GreenPois0n

In the battle of the jailbreak for iOS 4.1, we have 2 unique opponents: LimeRa1n vs GreenPois0n. LimeRa1n came first and kinda stole the show. GreenPois0n was released a few days later but was it already too late?

I am curious to see what you, iDB reader, used to jailbreak your iPhone. Did you wait for GreenPois0n or did you jump on the LimeRa1n bandwagon as soon as it got released. Please take a few seconds of your time to take this poll...

What Phone Did You Use Before Your iPhone?

It seems like it's been forever ago that my son's momma walked in the door with matching iPhone 3G's. Little did I know that day would literally change my life. Never in my life did I think that losing a trackball would open up the doors to substantial opportunity.

My interest in technology, specifically Apple, compounded itself to an infinite proportion. That being said, I started asking myself today, what device did our iDB readers sport before their current iPhone?

My list isn't anything to write home about, in fact I suspect the gradual trend displayed in my cellular advancement could be an outline for many smartphone users. Here is a brief timeline of the last 5 years of cellphone ownership:

iPhone 4 iPhone 3GS iPhone 3G Blackberry 8300 T-Mobile Sidekick Free flip phone

Needless to say I have been quite happy with the way this sequence unfolded. Next to my son, getting gifted an iPhone was the best present I have ever received. How does your list compare to mine? Let us know in the freedom of speech section, known as the comment box.

Poll: What Will Apple Say About the iPhone 4 Antenna Issue At Tomorrow’s Event?

In case you didn't know, Apple is having a press conference tomorrow, presumably to address the iPhone 4 antenna fiasco. Will the company come clean and recognize its errors? Will they offer to fix it? Or will they keep pretending there is no problem with the antenna?

Personally, I think they will offer free Bumpers to everyone. Software can't fix hardware issues and a recall would cost way too much. The only option left is the free Bumper which will not really address the issue, but at least it will hide the problem - in a rubber case - while being very cost-effective.

What do you think? Please take this poll and make sure you leave a comment to tell us what you think is going to happen.
