Goofy offers a native Facebook Messenger client for Mac

Earlier this week, what appeared to be a leaked photo of Facebook's future Messenger client for OS X became all the buzz. Facebook may finally be in the works of developing a client for Apple's Mac platform that works just like the mobile app on iOS, allowing users to stay connected with their friends and family right from their desktop without having to have all the distractions of the full web site open in a web browser.

But that's not to say you have to wait until Facebook is good and ready to release such an app to start using such an app on your Mac.

Apple seeds OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan beta 2 to developers and public beta testers

Three weeks after releasing the first beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan's third major software update, and 48 hours after seeding iOS 9.2.1 beta 2 to developers and public beta testers, Apple on Wednesday released a second beta of OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan.

It can be installed on machines running a prior beta through the Mac App Store's Updates tab and downloaded through Apple's portal for members of the Apple Developer Program.

The pre-release software is also available to public beta testers who signed up for Apple's Beta Software Program.

How to fix ‘Outlook can’t upgrade your database’ errors when launching Microsoft Outlook on Mac

Apple seeds OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 beta 1 to developers

After releasing the first beta of iOS 9.2.1 to developers earlier today, Apple also seeded OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 beta 1 to members of the Apple Developer Program.

The first beta of what would become El Capitan's third major software update since its October 2015 debut carries a build number of 15D9c and is available as a standalone download through Apple's portal for developers or through the Mac App Store's Update tab on Macs enrolled in the beta program.

Apple releases OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan update

Following an extensive testing, Apple on Tuesday released OS X 10.11.2 (build number 15C50), the second major update to El Capitan, for public consumption. In addition to improving the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, OS X 10.11.2 improves iCloud Photo Sharing for Live Photos, as well as the reliability of Wi-Fi networking, Handoff and AirDrop.

Moreover, the software update includes fixes for Bluetooth devices disconnecting on a whim, the Mail app deleting messages in an offline Exchange account and problems with importing photos from an iPhone to a Mac using a USB cable.

Apple officially makes its Swift programming language open source
