10 ways Apple could improve the MacBook Pro

Apple’s MacBook Pro has been my personal computer of choice for almost a decade now, and while I’ve loved every upgrade along the way, I can’t help but feel like Apple could do better.

Given just how expensive a MacBook Pro becomes as you start pegging out the specs on Apple’s website, it seems like Apple could do more to help me justify the price point. With that in mind, I’ll discuss at least ten ways Apple could improve their flagship notebook in this piece.

Several jailbreak hackers and developers now warn that Sileo could end the BigBoss repository

Friday morning, a port for the Sileo package manager became available for users of the unc0ver jailbreak, and we’ve since published a tutorial describing how to install the third-party package manager if you aren’t using Electra.

But this launch appears to have awoken the dormant beast in the jailbreak community. Many high-profile jailbreak hackers and developers are now speaking out against it, noting that the Sileo package manager hurts the BigBoss repository, which is the last of Cydia’s default repositories still standing (MacCiti and ModMyi closed their doors months ago).

My favorite accessories to use with the 2018 iPad Pro

It wasn’t long after Apple announced the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros that I went to my local Apple Store to pick one up. The idea of a USB-C-powered Apple tablet fascinated me, and it wasn’t long before I started gathering accessories to augment the iPad Pro experience.

In this piece, I’ll discuss my favorite accessories for my 11-inch iPad Pro. They’re in no specific order, but you will find a mix of first-party and third-party accessories below.

Cydia Store Shutdown FAQ: What happened and how will it impact jailbreakers?

Just last week, Saurik (Jay Freeman) made the difficult decision to pull the plug on the Cydia Store. But how will this impact you? Perhaps not as much as you think.

Common misunderstandings have caused a lot of confusion surrounding what is happening to Cydia and what all of this means. If you’re searching for clarity regarding the matter, then you’ve come to the right place. This post will answer many of the remaining questions.

If you aren’t already jailbroken, stay on the lowest possible firmware and avoid updates

If you’re already rocking a jailbroken handset by way of Electra or unc0ver, then you should consider yourself lucky. Unfortunately, those who updated to iOS 11.4-11.4.1 or iOS 12.0+, either on purpose or by accident, can’t jailbreak at this time.

If you fall into the latter category and have been crossing your fingers for a jailbreak, then you might be asking yourself whether you should stay where you are or upgrade to iOS 12.1; that’s a question we intend to help you answer in this piece.

Does Android have superior battery life?

The new iPhone XS sports some creative battery geometry, but that won't change the fact that the Apple smartphone continues to be perceived as having a weaker battery than comparable Android handsets. This may come as a surprise given Apple designs its own chips and optimizes the hardware and software for battery consumption. What exactly is going on here?

Should the Apple TV Home screen and TV app merge to become one?

Apple TV remote home button

tvOS 12, which Apple announced at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), finally brings Dolby Atmos to Apple TV. Unfortunately, the update doesn't change one of the most annoying things about the software, namely Apple's decision to have both a TV app and Home screen on the platform.

After nearly two years of coexisting, it's time for the Apple TV Home screen and TV app to merge and become one great app.

Apple Watch Series 4 wish list: design, features, and more…

The so-called Apple Watch Series 4 should be revealed this Fall. If the rumor mill is correct, this model will be the first since the wearable device was first announced in 2014 to feature a refreshed design. While changes to technology are expected, and in most cases warranted, let’s hope Apple’s next wearable device isn’t that much different than the ones on the market now.

Last chance to restore your device to iOS 11.1.2 with futurerestore!

Update: iOS 11.2.6 is now unsigned. You can no longer use futurerestore to restore any device to any firmware below iOS 11.3. Do not attempt the restores mentioned in this article.

With the official release of iOS 11.3, the clock is ticking on iOS 11.2.6 signing. Normally this wouldn't mean much to jailbreakers, who would be staying on a lower jailbroken firmware. This time however, it's different. Many users on iOS 9 and 10 jailbreaks are waiting to see how the iOS 11 tools turn out before making the jump. So far, iOS 11.2-11.2.6 have maintained SEP and baseband compatibility with iOS 11.0-11.1.2 (the last jailbreakable firmwares), which allowed users to make the jump at any point, or wait it out a little longer.

The time is now for a ‘style over substance’ year for Apple Watch

It is far from controversial to conclude that it took Apple almost three years to nail the engineering of Apple’s first wearable: cramming in and fine-tuning batteries, processing and cellular chips and so on and so forth. We were all there along the ride and we can all (provided you have worn a Gen 0 model before) attest to the enormous advancements made over the years.
