Microsoft just this week announced Office 2024 for its Mac and Windows customers, offering a way for individuals to buy (for a one-time fee) professional office software without subscribing to a monthly subscription model as required by Office 365.
For an Apple focused website, you may find it strange to offer an entire collection of nostalgic Microsoft wallpapers for desktop. However, I would venture to guess, that not all of us started out on a Mac as our first computer, at least those of us born before 2000. These wallpapers capture some of the 'fun' from the Windows '98 era, in 4K resolution.
Way back in February of this year, Microsoft announced that its newest version of its ridiculously popular suite of productivity apps, Office, would launch sometime later in the year. And now, all these months later, and just a few weeks out from the newest version of Windows arriving, we now know when we'll get to install the new Office. And it just so happens to coincide with the launch of the new version of the company's desktop OS.
While Microsoft has been making tweaks and improvements to its suite of office apps for quite some time, a proper change to the numbered year hasn't happened since 2019. That changes today, though, as Microsoft officially unveils Office 2021.
Microsoft has updated its Office for iPhone and iPad productivity suite with a few new nice-to-haves. For instance, you can now take advantage of side-by-side multitasking in Excel. Also, Word now supports richer mouse and trackpad interactions on your Magic Keyboard.
If you need Microsoft Office, you must currently subscribe to it - not everyone's cup of tea. That could change as soon as next year, however, as the Windows maker has now confirmed that it will offer a new perpetual release of Microsoft Office for Mac and Windows that doesn't require a subscription to use beginning in 2021.

Keeping true to its promise, Microsoft yesterday updated its Word and PowerPoint productivity apps on the App Store with the ability to open two documents in a side-by-side view on iPad via Split View multitasking support. The Excel app did not pick up Split View support at post time, however. Microsoft has also acknowledged that it's working on implementing iPadOS trackpad support for the Office suite, but don't expect to be taking advantage of it before the fall.
Microsoft is now testing iOS 13's ability to have apps run several windows of the same app on iPad with its own Word and PowerPoint software.
Back in November of last year, Microsoft began beta testing a new version of its Office app for iPhone, one that consolidates Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into one app experience.
