Microsoft Office might not come to the iPad anytime soon after all, but maybe it is

Remember this article we published earlier today saying Microsoft Office might be submitted to the App Store for approval soon? Well, scratch that because as it turns out, the Redmond company might not even be working on it after all.

According to the New York Times, a spokeswoman for Microsoft commented on the matter saying "The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation. We have no further comment."

Microsoft Office suite for iPad to be submitted for App Store approval soon

With the success the iPhone and iPad have had in the mobile computing space, you'd imagine Microsoft would have done a better job at making their flagship Office suite available for iOS. But they haven't. Not until now anyway.

Back in November, the Daily reported that Microsoft was actively working on developing an iPad version of Office. Today, The Daily has once again scooped everyone when they got their hands on a working prototype version of the software...

Microsoft Releases MSN UK iPad App That Looks Just Like Pulse

Microsoft's latest iPad app comes in the form of the new MSN UK app, which was made available today.

The app allows UK users to keep up to date on MSN UK news articles, as well as watch video and even stream them to an AirPlay-enabled device such as an Apple TV.

If the whole thing looks eerily familiar then there's a very good reason – the MSN UK iPad app bears a striking resemblance to the Pulse news reader app which has been around for some time now...

OnLive Desktop App Brings Microsoft Office and More to Your iPad

The iPad has made significant progress in the enterprise world, but there's still a lot of market left to capture. Some companies still maintain that because the tablet can't run critical software like the Microsoft Office suite, it's not a viable business tool.

But OnLive is looking to change that with its new OnLive Desktop iPad application. The program allows you to run full-featured versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and a virtual Windows 7 desktop, all from your tablet.

Microsoft Looking to Bring Xbox LIVE Gaming to iOS

According to a recently-posted job listing, Microsoft is looking to port its Xbox LIVE gaming portal to iOS and other platforms. Although iOS recently received a native Xbox LIVE app, the gameplay portion has remained a WP7-only feature.

The Redmond company has been extremely active in the App Store over the last few months, releasing the aforementioned LIVE app, the popular Kinectimals game, and a SkyDrive client. And it doesn't look like it's slowing down any time soon...

Create and Edit Microsoft Office Cloud Docs on Your iPad with CloudOn

If you can't wait for the rumored official iPad version of Microsoft's popular Office suite, then you may be in luck. CloudOn's app description suggests that the free iPad app will allow users to create and edit Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents on the device via a cloud-based interface and Dropbox integration.

For a free app, being able to create and edit Microsoft Office documents on an iPad sounds pretty useful, assuming you're based in the United States. The app is only available in the US App Store, presumably while CloudOn monitors its cloud systems.

Microsoft Releases SkyDrive App For the iPhone

Users of Microsoft's popular cloud storage service SkyDrive will be happy to hear that the company has finally brought an official client to the iOS platform.

Microsoft has been on a bit of a roll over the past week, releasing multiple iOS applications, including an official Xbox Live app and the lovable Kinectimals game. Now onto the SkyDrive app...

Halo Waypoint iOS App Released for Master Chief Fans

Someone at Microsoft just can't stop pushing out new iOS apps and games, with yet another release coming from Redmond showing up in the App Store.

Just hours after Microsoft's Kinectimals found its way onto iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches, another game-related app has landed, and this time it had help from Master Chief. Halo Waypoint ties right into all your Halo stats, letting players keep up to date with the competition as well as their own progress while away from their beloved Xbox 360.

Microsoft Releases Its First Game in the App Store

Microsoft is on something of a roll right now, with iOS apps rolling out of Redmond faster than you can say "Steve Ballmer." We've already had My Xbox LIVE and SkyDrive come from the mobile developers at Microsoft over the last few days, and now we've been treated to a new game.

Fans of the Xbox Kinect will know all about Kinectimals, a game that gives gamers a way to interact with virtual pets using the Kinect hands-free gaming accessory. If you are already a Kinectimals player on your Xbox 360, the new iOS app will unlock some more cubs for you to play with. You know, if that's your thing.

Official Xbox LIVE App Hits the App Store

Members of Microsoft's popular online gaming community, Xbox LIVE, will be happy to hear that an official iOS app has just surfaced in the App Store. There had been some doubt on whether Microsoft would port the app to Apple's mobile OS.

Xbox LIVE integration has been one of the Windows Phone features that Microsoft touts as an advantage over other mobile platforms. But with millions of users across the globe, Microsoft couldn't continue to ignore the massive iOS crowd...

Microsoft Buys Skype for $8.5 Billion

In a shocking report, The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that Microsoft has purchased Skype in a 8.5 billion dollar buyout. This deal gives Microsoft complete ownership of Skype Technologies SA, and this buyout is one of Microsoft's biggest purchases to date.

Skype has been a key player in the desktop and mobile space as one of the most popular VoIP services in existence. On iOS, Skype has always been a wonderful service for those wishing to make calls (both audio and video) over 3G and Wi-Fi.

Microsoft Releases OneNote, a New App for the iPhone

Microsoft already has a few apps in Apple's App Store, such as, Bing and Windows Live Messenger. However, no Microsoft Office programs have made their way to the iOS platform - that is, until now. (Don't get your hopes up, there's still no Word app for iPhone.)

Microsoft has released its note-syncing app in the App Store, which will work with its Windows desktop counterpart. This move by Microsoft is an obvious attempt at further reaching out to the mobile worker and student. OneNote is packaged in the Mac bundle of the Microsoft Office suite, but Windows users will be happy to know they can now take their Office notes with them thanks to the beauty of cloud-sync technology...
