Apple introduces new MacBook Air, previews stunning new Mac Pro

We had a feeling that Apple was going to be showing off some new Mac hardware today. And it did. After giving a preview of the new OS X Mavericks update, Craig Federighi brought up Apple's marketing head Phil Schiller to talk about some new Macs.

Cook: US-made Macs to be built in Texas

Apple CEO Tim Cook, while squirming Tuesday under Congressional questions about the company's tax-savings tactics, revealed an interesting tidbit: the Lone Star State will build the the tech giant's made-in-USA Mac. Testifying before the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Cook said the Mac would be assembled in Texas, with parts coming from other regions of the country...

Apple to discontinue Mac Pro in Europe on March 1

Apple will reportedly discontinue the Mac Pro in Europe beginning March 1. The unexpected decision isn't a result of low demand for Apple's pro desktop, as conventional wisdom would have you believe. The real reason is simple, really: Apple's aging top-of-the-line desktop just doesn't meet a new European product regulation standards effective March 1.

The current Mac Pro line will continue to be available in other markets that don't have the new European product certification standards in place. Apple has emailed its resellers across Europe informing them they can place Mac Pro orders up until February 18 for shipment before March 1, 2013...

Apple’s ‘Made in USA’ Mac could be the next-gen Mac Pro

The industry was taken aback a little when Tim Cook on Friday told NBC’s Brian Williams in his first TV interview since becoming the CEO that Apple plans to bring some of the manufacturing jobs back home from China. He even went on to confirm that the company pledged to spend a hundred million bucks to make it happen, but stopped short of specifying which Macs would be assembled in the United States.

By all accounts, Apple's flagship desktop machine aimed at pros - the Mac Pro - is at the center of the company's renewed interest to bring some Mac production back to the country. First and foremost, the Mac Pro is way overdue for a hardware upgrade, having been last refreshed 427 days ago, or nearly a year and half ago...
