The Mac’s copy and paste function is generally not something I think about. Sure, I use it. In fact, I use it every single day. It’s just that I never have to think about it. It’s a universal constant. No matter what machine you’re on or what you are trying to accomplish, copy/paste always works the same way. It always does the exact same thing and with the exact same limitations. Dmitry Obukhov’s Paste seeks to change that.

Post to Instagram directly from your Mac with Uploader for Instagram
Most people’s biggest gripe with the photo sharing site Instagram is that they can’t upload photos directly from their Macs. There are a few workarounds for this, but most of them are intrusive, labor intensive, and far from user friendly. The aptly titled Uploader for Instagram seeks to simplify this process so that anyone can easily post from whatever device they choose.

Apple seeded another beta of OS X 10.10.3 on Monday for both members of the Mac Developer Center and public beta testers. How to use window snapping with HyperDock on Mac
As many of you guys know, I'm a huge HyperDock ($9.99 on the Mac App Store) proponent. I use it primarily to have access to window previews of running apps in the OS X dock, but the tweak has additional features as well.
The biggest side benefit to using HyperDock is its window snapping capabilities. It's not the deepest window snapping feature-set out there, but if you need basic Windows-like functionality, it's should have more than enough to win you over.
Apple issues an apology for iTunes/iCloud downtime, blames outage on internal DNS error
Chances are you've by now realized that Apple's content stores and other iCloud services are experiencing widespread downtime.
Earlier this morning, Twitter lit up with complaints from users around the world who reported being unable to download apps, music, movies, TV shows and books, as well as buy in-app content, with some even unable to sign in to online service like iCloud Mail.
In an official statement issued to CNBC, Apple's apologized for inconveniencing customers and said the multi-hour outage is caused by “an internal DNS error” at the firm. As you could imagine, they're scrambling to produce a fix.
UPDATE: following what became an eleven-hour long outage, the App Store and iTunes services are now back online.
App Store, Mac App Store iTunes/iBooks Store and other iCloud services experiencing outage
If you're unable to update your apps or buy books and music on Apple's content stores, you're not alone — there's trouble in iCloud. Apple's App Store, Mac App Store, iTunes Store and iBooks Store services have been experiencing widespread outage for straight six hours now.
At first, the company's iCloud Status Page would not acknowledge the downtime. Earlier this morning, the company refreshed the dashboard which now shows the App Store, Mac App Store, iTunes Store and iBooks Store as being unavailable “for all users”.
UPDATE: following what became an eleven-hour long outage, the App Store and iTunes services are now back online.
Simplify for Mac review: access multiple media players from one controller
A third-party media controller can be very useful. I like having a special widget for Spotify right in my Mac’s Notification Center. What would really be nice is an app that allows you to control multiple players from one widget.
Simplify for Mac is a media player that lets you control the playback of iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Pandora, and Vox right in your menu bar. We’ve got a detailed app review of Simplify for Mac today.
How to enable window previews of running apps in the dock on Mac
One of the things that I appreciate about Windows is the ability to view previews of running apps by hovering your mouse cursor over an app in the Taskbar. OS X doesn't natively allow you to do such a thing, but it's nothing that HyperDock—a $9.99 purchase from the Mac App Store—can't handle.
ControlAir: control your Mac media apps with simple gestures
Gone are the days when we had to painfully reach for the mouse, drag the cursor around the screen, and click to pause, play, or skip a song in iTunes. All sarcasm aside, there are times when it's just not that practical to either reach for the keyboard or the mouse to control the music playing on your Mac, and this is an experience ControlAir is trying to improve.
ControlAir is a new Mac app that gives users touch-free control over their media and entertainment apps. Using ControlAir, users can just lean back and control music and video applications using air gestures, without ever having to touch the keyboard or the mouse.
Tweetbot for Mac returns to Mac App Store
Tapbots, the maker of popular third-party Twitter application Tweebot, has brought back the application to the Mac App Store after pulling it over the weekend.
"We've worked with Twitter to resolve Tweetbot for Mac authentication issues," Tapbots said in a tweet on Monday. "The app should be back on the Mac App Store soon."
Tweetbot for Mac pulled from Mac App Store over running afoul of Twitter’s token ceiling
Bad news, Tweetbot fans. Developer Paul Haddad woke up this morning to the realization that his popular Twitter client for the Mac has been pulled from the Mac App Store.
As if the app's disappearance wasn't enough, existing copies are experiencing authentication issues, allegedly over reaching Twitter’s strict limits on how many users are permitted to login to a particular application, as first discovered by 9to5Mac.
“We are aware of Tweetbot for Mac authentication issues,” reads the official tweet from developer Tapbots. “We have contacted Twitter and are waiting for a response. Thanks for your patience.”
