Luca Todesco releases browser-based exploit for Pangu 9.3.3 jailbreak without certificate

Noted iOS security researcher and hacker Luca Todesco has just released a WebKit-based loader for the Pangu 9.3.3 jailbreak. This impressive browser exploit is reminiscent of the original JailbreakMe exploits on iOS 1 and iOS 4, after which it is named.

All that is required for the technique to work is to follow a URL in mobile Safari, press a button, lock your device and wait for the respring.

Whilst this development is testament to Todesco's hacking skills and has alleviated one major problem with the current 9.3.3 jailbreak: its reliance on developer certificates for the loader app, there is bound to be some confusion over what this tool actually does, and what it means for the jailbreak community. This post aims to bring some clarity to the topic.

While there’s still no public jailbreak for iOS 10 to date, there have been some very convincing demos of personal jailbreaks for it, most of which have come out of the woodwork from none other than well-known iOS hacker Luca Todesco.

Amid the current jailbreak situation, Todesco is now seen warning netizens that if they have any intention of jailbreaking iOS 10 in the future, they should stay on iOS 10.1.1 and refrain from updating to iOS 10.2 when it comes out.

At the end of last week, a demo video surfaced on Reddit revealing what appeared to be an iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1 that was jailbroken.

There was a lot of skepticism surrounding its legitimacy, but now the established iOS hacker Luca Todesco is sharing photographic evidence of his own iPhone 7 jailbroken on iOS 10.1.1 via Twitter.

Previously having the spotlight for finding a way to jailbreak iOS 9.3.4 shortly after Apple released it to patch Pangu's iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak, Todesco has published a YouTube video demonstrating a working jailbreak running on iOS 10 beta 8.

Despite Apple's release of iOS 9.3.4 on Thursday, which patched the jailbreak that's currently available from Pangu for iOS 9.2-9.3.3, it would seem that Apple has failed to fill all of their security holes.

Well-known iOS hacker and developer Luca Todesco has already started sharing teaser images of iOS 9.3.4 jailbroken on Twitter.

Only last month, well-known Italian iOS hacker and developer Luca Todesco teased a really nifty browser-based jailbreak that appeared to work on iOS 9.3.2.

Although the jailbreak would never be released to the public, Todesco says that Apple's upcoming iOS 10 release closes an important exploit used in the jailbreak, which was shown off just last month.

Italian hacker Luca Todesco is once again making waves in the jailbreak community after demonstrating on video a browser-based jailbreak on a 6th generation iPod touch running iOS 9.3.2.

Similar to the now classic JailbreakMe, the method used by Todesco can apparently jailbreak the device directly from Safari, without requiring a computer.

There is a jailbreak for iOS 9.3.3, but you shouldn't hold your breath for it as you most likely won't be able to enjoy it anytime soon, if ever. As he did in the past, Italian hacker Luca Todesco teased what appears to be an iPod touch running iOS 9.3.3. beta 1 with Cydia installed earlier today, and if the past is any indication of the future, nothing will materialize for jailbreak users like you and me.
