Leaked iPhone SE screen assembly lacks 3D Touch

Just as so-called 'iPhone SE' is about to enter mass production, we have become exposed to its very first claimed component leak. Saturday, the reliable French blog NowhereElse.fr posted a purported image of the iPhone SE's screen assembly which supports the thesis that 3D Touch will remain exclusive to the iPhone 6s as a differentiating feature.

3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus uses an additional layer with 96 pressure-sensing sensors and is found between the display itself and the backlight module. No such layer could be identified in the leaked image.

Leaked iPad Air 3 design drawing points to four speakers and LED flash

A purported drawing published Monday by French blog NowhereElse.fr indicates that Apple's third-generation iPad Air might borrow the iPad Pro's four-speaker setup for better audio reproduction.

In addition, the tablet could sport a LED flash. The site has obtained the design drawing from a fairly reliable source though it couldn't vouch for the veracity of the leaked image.

Did this video just show us Apple’s upcoming four-inch iPhone refresh?

M.I.C. Gadget, which in the past supplied genuine pictures and clips of unreleased Apple devices, today published a video which they claim shows off Apple's forthcoming four-inch iPhone obtained from a source at Foxconn.

The clip could be an elaborate hoax, of course, but it looks genuine if you consider that the device appears to resemble a four-inch iPhone with an iPhone 6s-style design, as the rumor-mill's predicted.

Native Facebook Messenger for Mac app revealed in leaked photo

Facebook may be bringing its popular messaging app to the desktop, according to a blurry photo obtained by TechCrunch which appears to show a native application being tested on a Mac notebook by an employee.

Facebook currently provides the Messenger app for a number of mobile platforms, in addition to a dedicated web interface at messenger.com and built-in messaging functionality available through its desktop UI at facebook.com.

iPhone 7 gets its first purported part leak

With a dozen or so rumors published thus far about Apple's next iPhone—let's dub it an 'iPhone 7'—today we finally get our first look at a claimed display backlight module for the device, courtesy of Taiwanese website Apple.club.tw.

Not much can be gleaned from the images except for some minor changes in the location of a flex cable and a chip that controls the 3D Touch sensor array. If Apple sticks to its release schedule, the iPhone 7 should hit the store shelves in early fall.

Apple website leaks gorgeous new Space Black color option for Apple Watch’s Milanese Loop band

You will soon be able to buy a Milanese Loop band in gorgeous Space Black finish to complement your Space Black stainless steel Apple Watch case. AT&T to stop offering two-year phone contracts next month

AT&T plans to stop offering two-year phone contracts next month, reports Engadget. The outlet on Wednesday published an internal document that says the carrier will launch a "pricing simplification effort" on January 8 that will effectively get rid of contracts.

According to the document, starting on the 8th, AT&T Next and full-retail will become the only purchase options for smartphones. Folks looking to buy a flip, or "basic," phone from the carrier will also have to choose between paying full-retail or an installment plan.

Moto 360 Sport, 2nd gen Moto 360 and ‘shatterproof’ Motorola phone due this year

It pays to keep tabs on competition. Just as Google released Android Wear for iPhone earlier today and LG announced a gold-plated limited-edition of its Urbane watches, noted gadget leaker Upleaks published some interesting tidbits and press renderings for Motorola's upcoming smartwatches and phones. According to these leaks, a second-generation Moto360 smartwatch is allegedly coming in September.

A Sport variant of the current-generation Moto 360 smartwatch should be due a month later, Upleaks claims. In addition, the Lenovo-owned company is purportedly working on a high-end smartphone that should be shatterproof.

New leak suggests that the iPhone 6s will feature a 16GB model

Despite rumors that Apple would finally be dropping its anemic 16GB model for the next iPhone refresh, a new leak from well-respected leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer is suggesting otherwise.

Hemmerstoffer, who is no stranger to leaking details about upcoming mobile devices, posted a photo of the sticker that normally resides on the back of an iPhone's box. As you're probably aware of, the stickers glued to the back of the box are what provide statistical details relating to storage size, network compatibility, etc.

If this leak is true—and I've seen nothing to make me believe otherwise—there's going to be some disappointed people come September 9th.

New purported details about next iPhone and iPad’s ‘A9’ chip emerge

Interesting tidbits regarding Apple-designed 'A9’ chip said to power the upcoming 'iPhone 6s' and 'iPhone 6s Plus' handsets surfaced Monday, offering some previously unknown details regarding its performance and design.

It appears that the next iPhone and iPad's processor could employ so-called system-in-package (SiP) design which squeezes some additional components into a tiny chip, including the baseband modem and the power management circuitry.

Moreover, a leaked benchmark purports to compare single and multi-thread performance of several unreleased mobile processors, such as NVIDIA's Denver 2, Samsung's Exynos M1, Huawei’s Kirin 950, LG's NUCLUN 2 and Apple's A9 and A9X.

iPhone 6s screen assembly revealed in leaked video

With just a few weeks until Apple's rumored September 9 media event, small wonder we're now seeing a bunch of parts for the upcoming 'iPhone 6s' and 'iPhone 6s Plus' smartphones leaking out from Asian supply chain.

European repair firm MacManiack was able to get hold of a fully assembled display component for the iPhone 6s from a supplier and today posted a video of it. This could also be a ploy to steal free publicity on the part of MacManiack so take the report with healthy skepticism.

Leaked CAD drawing and claimed chassis video show radically thinner iPad mini 4 design

Claimed CAD drawing published Monday by the usually reliably OnLeaks provides yet another indication that Apple's next-generation iPad mini will be the slimmest 7.9-inch iPad yet, basically supporting the theory that the iPad mini 4 will match the thinness of the iPad Air 2.

The device's profile is expected to go from 7.5mm down to the iPad Air 2 thinness of just 6.1mm, or less than the iPad mini 3 thickness of 7.5mm. In addition to the technical drawing of the iPad mini 4, OnLeaks posted a nice hands-on video showcasing a claimed iPad mini 4 housing.
