AT&T to Start Rolling Out its LTE Network this Weekend

After several months of talking about it, AT&T finally seems ready to put up or shut up. On Sunday, the carrier plans on lighting up its new 4G LTE service in 5 major U.S. cities. The news does come with several asterisks though.

One, it's about a year late to the party. Verizon's had a live LTE network since last December. Two, the launch is tiny compared to Verizon's 39-city rollout. And three, there's not even a compatible smartphone available (yet)...

Previous reports from supply chains overseas have said that Apple has already begun iPhone 5 production, with the claim that suppliers are making an upwards of 150,000 units per day. iOS 5 has, up to this point, not been installed on the new hardware. We know, you get it, the man resigned. But what you may not see are all of the ramifications of his early exit. There's a lot of people in the world with a lot riding on Apple's success, and their world just got a whole lot scarrier.

Sure, Tim Cook has the business-sense to keep Apple afloat. But he seems to lack Jobs' creativity and showmanship. Can you imagine him unveiling a new product?

Previous rumors were that Apple wouldn't launch a new iPhone until early October, with a possible announcement at the end of September. There have been whispers of two new iPhone models coming this Fall, and this "cheaper" 8GB iPhone 4 will clearly be targeted towards the cheaper mobile market.

Rogers Employees Begin Pre-Launch iPhone Training

As we slowly start to enter the expected timeframe for Apple's iPhone 5 announcement, expect the amount of leaks/rumors to grow substantially. Steve Jobs and company have done a good job guarding their secret thus far, but the weeks prior to launch can get tricky.

The closer we get to an official announcement, the more likely it is that more people have been told about the device. That seems to be the case here, as iPhoneinCanada is reporting that Canadian carrier Rogers employees are starting their "pre-launch" iPhone training...
