First public beta of the Sileo package manager released for the Electra jailbreak

On Christmas day, the Electra Team released its public beta of Sileo, a package manager that will attempt to compete with Cydia for market share on the jailbroken iOS 11 platform.

Citing the official Sileo Twitter page, the Sileo beta preview is being hosted on the default Electra repository in Cydia on devices jailbroken with Electra. When Sileo comes out of beta, it will be distributed on an entirely different repository.

Cross-platform SHSH blob-saving tool blobsaver updated to version 2.2 with improvements

Good practice for any jailbreaker is to save your handset’s SHSH blobs regularly. Doing so opens you up to the possibility of firmware downgrades and other fruitful benefits concerning jailbreaking.

A whole host of SHSH blob-saving tools exist today, including blobsaver. The latter is a cross-platform GUI app that promises ease of use across common operating systems like macOS, Windows, and even Linux.

Merry Christmas! iOS 10.x jailbreak for 32-bit devices released

Just in time for Christmas, tihmstar has continued his 32-bit device run with a jailbreak for iOS 10. It works all the way up to the final 32-bit firmware, iOS 10.3.3, so barring any serious misfortune legacy devices should have access to a jailbreak forever.

Saïgon jailbreak updated with wider device support and greater success rate

Abraham Masri has updated his iOS 10.2.1 Saïgon jailbreak, incorporating Siguza's new v0rtex exploit. Using the same vulnerability as Ian Beer's exploit for iOS 11, v0rtex for iOS 10 has replaced ziVA as the kernel magic behind the Saïgon jailbreak. This change has brought greater stability to Saïgon, which was previously very finicky to successfully run.

Perhaps best described as a "semi-jailbreak", his tool Houdini achieves some of the effects of a jailbreak, whilst avoiding the hardest challenges and pitfalls which constructing the full package would bring.

Kodi, previously known as XBMC, is an open source media player, and a veritable one-stop shop for all your media needs. Whilst it has been a favourite of Apple TV users for a long time, there is not always a recent tvOS release, and the process to install it has been complex at times. This guide gives the simplest process, without recourse to unofficial distributions.

It doesn't require a jailbreak, and should work on both tvOS 10 and tvOS 9.

No more 7-day signing woes: use Extender Installer

Since the release of Yalu for iOS 10, many users have been faced with a new annoyance: the 7-day signing period for their jailbreak app. Without a paid Apple developer account they are forced to connect their devices to their computers once a week to sideload their jailbreak app again.

Whilst this has technically been true for all semi-(un)tethered jailbreaks, it was never an issue with Pangu 9.2-9.3.3 because it came with a one-year certificate, and later a re-jailbreaking website. It was with mach_portal and Yalu102 that the problem became evident.
