Urbanears bring the party straight to your ears [review and giveaway]

Having admired Urbanears from afar, on the shelves of local retailers, I was blown away when I finally got my hands on a pair of the new Zinken over-the-ear headphones. Urbanears is clearly a company priding itself by paying attention to the little things and even places a 63 page booklet in their headphones' box to prove it.

As a reviewer, I come across a lot of products for iOS devices on a regular basis and I can count, on one hand, how many times I have been impressed with product packaging (excluding actual Apple products). I must say, when it comes to accessories, often, a book should be judged by its cover and Urbanears spares no expense. Let's open the box on this pair of Zinkens my friends at Urbanears sent over and you too have a chance to grab a pair of your own...

Analyst predicts the iPad mini will kill off the iPod touch

Is Apple getting ready to discontinue the iPod touch, now that the Cupertino, California firm has a bevy of low-priced alternatives, including the just-announced iPad mini? That's the opinion of one analyst who has correctly predicted the demise of other Apple products. The iPod touch "has entered the final stage of its product life cycle," according to Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst with KGI Securities. He also believes Apple "will not invest significantly in developing future models"...

The new iPod nano teardown analysis finds five Apple-branded mystery chips

Solutions provider iFixit tore apart Apple's seventh-generation iPod nano which was released alongside the iPhone 5 and the fifth-generation iPod touch at the September 12 media event. In addition to a Broadcom Bluetooth module and a touchscreen controller from Texas Instruments (whose mobile arm could be acquired by Amazon), the music player also packs in five Apple-branded mystery chips and scores a lower repairability score than the iPhone 5...

New iPod nano gets software update

Owners of the newly-introduced iPod nano might be interested to know that there is now a software update available for the device. That's right, Apple just started shipping the refreshed MP3 player a few days ago, and there's already new firmware for it.

The update brings the nano's OS to version 1.0.1. Keep reading for more details...

You gotta see Apple’s awesome ad for new iPods

Apple yesterday refreshed the iPod lineup alongside the new iPhone 5 (here's your keynote) and boy do these colorful iPod touches look sexy. The company also revamped the popular iPod nano, making it taller and giving it a widescreen display with multitouch user interface, Bluetooth (we envision interesting accessories for the new nano).

Yes, the new touch comes in a bunch of attractive colors as well. The entry-level iPod shuffle also saw a slight redesign. But how do you go about advertising the updated iPods in a memorable, attractive and easy-going manner? Here's how...

Meet EarPods, Apple’s new in-ear headphones

It is no secret that Apple's in-ear headphones that ship with iPhones and iPods leave a lot to be desired. Sound quality is average, at best, bass is non-existent and highs sound a little too robotic. Of course, we knew Apple would be introducing a brand new headset today. What we haven't known is that the company spent three years designing the new headphones, dubbed EarPods. Yes, three years...

Apple introduces new iPod touch with 4-inch screen, comes in 5 different colors

Today's event isn't just about the new iPhone. Apple's Greg Joswiak is now on stage talking about new iPod products. First up was the all-new iPod nano with bluetooth and multitouch. And now we have a new iPod touch.

This is the fifth-generation of Apple's popular mp3 player, and they've decided to give it a bit of a makeover. At 6.1 mm, it's the thinnest iPod touch Apple has ever made. And it has the same 4-inch display as the new iPhone...

Apple unveils taller multi-touch iPod nano with a 2.5-inch display

Apple said at a presser currently underway in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts that it sold 350 million iPods to date."The iPod is the most popular music player of all time", Apple's Eddy Cue said before unveiling a new iPod nano. It's got a 2.5-inch screen, does video in widescreen, rocks a miniature home button and comes in seven vivid colors...

New iPod touch to feature 1136×640 display and new A5 chip

Apple is widely expected to unveil new iPods alongside its new smartphone tomorrow. But while we think we know almost everything about the new iPhone, the new iPods remain a bit of a mystery.

Until today, that is. According to some new information, the new line of iPod touches are likely going to feature a 4-inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640, and a more powerful A5 processor...

Check out this blow-away concept of next-gen iPod touch

With just one day left until Apple's massive iPhone 5 introduction tomorrow, it's a mockups day today. This morning already saw us post a few nice dummies and mockups, from the iPhone 5 dummy with high-quality closeups of the handset's controversial two-tone design to a concept video showing off its possible features to this nicely done mockup of a mini iPad in hand.

With some people expecting new colorful iPods at tomorrow's event, designer Guilherme Schasiepen went about rendering half a dozen stunning mockups of what a fifth-generation iPod touch might look like. The renderings and more food for thought follow right below...

Colorful banners go up at Yerba Buena Center, perhaps alluding to new iPods?

First set of blurry snaps depicting preparations over at the San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts building in San Francisco hit the web last evening. Just this moment, another batch of images arrived, showing workers dressing up the building in colorful banners.

The design of these banners could mean nothing, but then again - this is Apple and the colors are surely meant to convey a certain message.

Colors for the next iPhone? Hardly, if you ask me. Instead, the nicely done banner graphics could be a subtle hint at the lively colors the refreshed iPods are thought to be provided in, thus indicating that next Wednesday's media event may not necessarily be iPhone-exclusive as previously thought...

New iPods: 8 colors, new touches and tweaked nanos

With fall just around the corner, Apple is expected to refresh its entire iPod lineup, per tradition. Of course, we've yet to see whether the company choose to announce new models at next week's event related to the next iPhone or during a rumored October unveiling of mini iPad or perhaps at a separate media event.

Now, a new report out this morning offers a bunch of interesting tidbits regarding the direction the venerable iPod brand may be taking in 2012. The crux of the story includes a tweaked iPod shuffle, new iPod nano, and new iPod touches and here are the details...
