We love our Windows readers and viewers, and to prove it we've created a video tutorial that shows you how to downgrade an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using RedSn0w 0.9.11b1 on Windows.

The process is basically the same as what we showed you with the Mac version of RedSn0w, but this time around we downgraded an iPhone 4S instead of an iPad 2. The iPad 2, iPhone 4S and the New iPad — all being A5 devices — can be downgraded using this method....

pod2g confirms that the upcoming A5 jailbreak works with iOS 5.1.1

And the good news just keeps rolling in... hot of the heels of pod2g's new iPad (iPad 3) untethered jailbreak video, he's now confirming that his jailbreak works with Apple's newly released iOS 5.1.1 firmware as well.

This means that anyone who buys a new iPad, iPhone 4S, or iPad 2 with 5.1.1 pre-installed, or anyone who accidentally updated to iOS 5.1.1 without saving their SHSH blobs will still be able to jailbreak once the tool is released...

Upcoming version of RedSn0w will allow you to downgrade your iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the new iPad

Awesome news for those who accidentally updated the firmware for their A5 device (iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the new iPad aka iPad 3), possibly resulting in the loss of the precious untethered jailbreak. MuscleNerd has announced that an upcoming update to RedSn0w will allow users to downgrade their firmware.

The only catch is that you have to have your SHSH blobs saved for the firmware that you wish to downgrade to. That means that if you purchased your iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1 pre-installed, there's no way to downgrade to iOS 5.0.1 so that you can enjoy the benefits of pod2g's untethered jailbreak...

Both Target and RadioShack knocking $50 off iPhone 4/4S

Those looking to purchase an iPhone in the near future might want to make it a point to check out the prices at their local Target. 9to5Mac is reporting that the retailer is knocking $50 off both 4 and 4S models for all carriers.

This brings the iPhone 4S down to $150 — in line with discounts being offered by regional carriers, and the iPhone 4 down to just $50. And apparently, Target's not the only chain dropping the prices on the popular handsets...

Gevey Ultra S unlock for GSM iPhone 4S works with iOS 5.1.1

Great news today for folks with a GSM iPhone 4S who are using, or planning to use, GEVEY's Ultra S product to unlock their handset. It appears the popular SIM interposer is compatible with the new iOS 5.1.1 update.

Apple released the update yesterday, equipped with a handful of bug fixes and improvements. And although its future is still a bit murky for jailbreakers, it looks like it's ok for unlockers to upgrade...

Three more regional carriers get to sell the iPhone next Friday

You can add Bluegrass Cellular, Golden State Cellular and Nex-Tech Wireless to your list of regional wireless operators that get to carry the iPhone in the United States, alongside the big three carriers (AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint).

Both handsets will require a standard two-year commitment and will be priced at $149 for the entry-level 16GB iPhone 4S model and $49 for its predecessor, the 8GB iPhone 4...

Warning! Jailbreakers should avoid updating to iOS 5.1.1

A few moments ago, Apple started pushing out iOS 5.1.1 to compatible devices. The update doesn't appear to bring any new features, but it does include a handful of bug fixes and other improvements.

While we've already confirmed that A4 devices running the new firmware can be jailbroken, that doesn't mean you should update. In fact, those of you with with an A5(X) device should steer clear of it...

Galaxy S III is cool, but official advert ignores marketing basics

As you've no doubt heard by now, Samsung has challenged Apple's smartphone dominance with yesterday's introduction of the third-generation Galaxy S smartphone at the Unpacked event in London.

Featuring an incremental bump up in specs and a host of software enhancements, you'd assume Samsung's marketing folks would proudly show off the device in official advertising.

Not so fast. A side-by-side comparison of the iPhone 4S and Galaxy S III commercials indicates Sammy's got a whole lot of learning to do: their 60-second advert features the flagship handset three times less frequently than Apple's commercial...

Walmart denies dropping iPhone 4/4S prices dramatically

Among the third-party retailers that sell Apple's handset, Walmart typically has some of the lowest prices. In fact, it's been selling 16GB versions of the iPhone 4S for just $188 since last November. And it looks like it's about to get a lot cheaper.

Cult of Mac has learned that Walmart is dropping the price of Apple's latest smartphone (AT&T model) down to $114 with a 2-year agreement. It also appears that the retail chain is lowering the price of its 8GB iPhone 4 as well, down to $34.

Unfortunately, discounts were a glitch in the system, Walmart confirmed in an official statement...
