Best iPad Air keyboards

As iPad becomes more of a portable workhorse, the need for professional grade accessories drastically increases. Our own Jeff Benjamin swears by his iPad to muscle common tasks for his daily blogging needs. Of the most important professional additions, the keyboard rates at number one.

A virtual keyboard is perfect for portability. Software keyboards only take up screen space, but do not take up space in a travel bag or add weight. They are equally as noticeable when trying to actually accomplish some real work. The Bluetooth keyboard is the answer for users looking to get extra mileage from their iPad Air. Inside, we give a short spotlight to some of the best iPad Air keyboards...

Logitech FabricSkin Keyboard Folio review: a thin, light and classy keyboard for iPad Air

Now that Apple has finally updated its full-sized tablet with completely new dimensions, iPad Air owners are forced to update their cases, covers, and sleeves, too. I have been using the same Solar Keyboard Folio from Logitech since 2011.

Luckily, Logitech has recently revamped their line of keyboards, folios and cases to fit the thinner iPad Air. The FabricSkin Keyboard Folio for iPad Air has been updated with more than just different dimensions. The case has been redesigned to be thinner, lighter and easier to use. Read on for our review of the Logitech FabricSkin Keyboard Folio for iPad...

Some Apple Stores now matching iPhone 5c, iPad Air deals

Looking for a deal on an iPhone 5c or iPad Air for the holidays? Well it looks like your local Apple Store may be able to help out. According to a new report, a number of locations have started to price-match on these new products.

This means that if you see a sale going on at your nearby carrier store or electronics reseller, you might be able to get Apple to match their prices. It sounds like discounting will stop at 10% and of course other restrictions apply...

Artist uses iPad to paint amazing Morgan Freeman portrait

It's believed by some folks that the iPad can only be used as a consumption tool, and isn't capable of producing content. Well apparently no one has told artist Kyle Lambert this, as he uses the popular tablet to paint incredibly realistic celebrity portraits.

In the past he's done celebrities like Will Smith, David Beckham and Madonna, but his latest work of art, which is easily his best, is of famous actor Morgan Freeman. The textures, the intense detail. You just have to watch this video of Lambert at work...

Japan’s NTT DoCoMo to land iPad Air real soon

NTT DoCoMo, Japan's top wireless carrier with about sixty million subscribers, accounts for more than half of that country's market for cell phones. Apple products - the iPhone in particular - are tremendously popular with the Japanese so fans will be delighted to learn that NTT will soon open sales for Apple's new iPad Air.

The confirmation came via a senior DoCoMo executive who said in Tokyo that his company will start carrying the iPad Air "in the not-too-distant future". I guess you could say the development's been in the cards ever since Apple announced an iPhone distribution agreement with the carrier in September...

Moshi introduces new ultrathin ‘VersaKeyboard’ iPad Air case

If you're in the market for a non-conventional keyboard case for your new iPad Air, you may want to check out this new offering from Moshi. The California-based accessory-maker introduced the origami-styled VersaKeyboard yesterday.

The case is interesting because it can be manipulated to work as a stand and comes equipped with an ultrathin detachable Bluetooth keyboard. It works in both landscape and portrait mode, and the keyboard has a battery life of 130 hours...

Retina iPad mini has inferior color gamut to iPad Air

Apple's latest iPad mini with Retina display went unexpectedly on sale last Friday. As is the case with any Apple product launch, this one, too, came with its share of teething issues.

Some early adopters may have bought a device with Sharp-made IGZO screen which apparently exhibits slight image retention issue, for example.

I was deep into AnanandTech's exhaustive Retina iPad mini review the other day and stumbled upon a section which describes the device's Retina display as actually showing fewer colors compared to the iPad Air. Not that an untrained eye will notice any difference, but I've decided to post this anyway for purely academic purposes...

A look at Belkin’s Keyboard Cases for the iPad Air

A few days ago, two of Belkin’s flagship iPad accessories arrived at my office — the soft touch QODE Slim Style Keyboard Case, and the anodized aluminum coated QODE Ultimate Keyboard Case.

Both cases provide iPad owners with a physical Bluetooth enabled keyboard, which is handy for serious typists. While many are able to get by with tap typing on iOS’ software keyboard, there’s simply no arguing against the fact that a physical keyboard is superior in virtually every way.

So, which one is right for you?

DCMA’d iDevice stock-tracking tool gets mirrored at another website

With the iPhone 5s in high demand, still-constrained supply of the iPad Air and tight availability of the iPad mini with Retina display, getting your hands on one of Apple's latest iDevices isn't yet a simple matter of waltzing inside your nearest Apple Store and pulling a credit card out of your pocket.

A handful of web apps in existence provide iDevice availability information by repurposing Apple's online store data. But having taken a tough stance on scrapping its web store, Apple has recently dispatched its lawyers.

One of the first ones to bite the dust was the popular Apple-Tracker.com, which got shuttered shortly after receiving a takedown notice from Apple's legal team. Not content with going down without a fight, administrator Mordy Tikotzky has released the website code into the wild, allowing others to make web-based inventory-checker tools...

Apple serves iPad/iPhone inventory tracking website with a takedown notice

The tremendously useful iPhone and iPad inventory tracking tool is no more as Apple's legal sharks have served its owner with a DMCA takedown notice. The website would give you estimates on iPad Air and iPhone 5s availability, particularly handy for early adopters as Apple struggles to keep up with demand for these products.

Apple objected to how Apple-Tracker.com pulled data from its web store and took issue with its use of deeplinks, arguing the tool violates its Terms of Service by re-using content from the online Apple Store. Complying with Apple's request, the guy who runs the website has now taken his baby down..

Let’s Talk iOS 001: Now we’re talking

Welcome to the first episode of Let's Talk iOS. In this episode, we break down our feelings about the new iPad Air after a few days of intense usage. Jeff talks about his ability to use the iPad Air as a full fledged work machine, and Cody and Sebastien reiterate their plans to purchase the new iPad mini with Retina Display.

iPad Air has IGZO screen, display expert claims

Apple has long been rumored to be adopting Sharp's sophisticated IGZO display technology for iPhones and iPads, but the reported ongoing yields issues have prevented it from making the switch over concerns on maintaining a minimum level of capacity.

At the same time, it hasn't gone unnoticed that the iPad Air achieves the same 10-hour battery life (and 24-hour LTE hotspot performance) in spite of packing in a powerful 64-bit A7 processor and, more importantly, a much smaller battery than its predecessor, 32.9 Whr versus 43 Whr for the iPad 4.

Now, one of the benefits of using IGZO display technologies is vastly reduced power consumption. So, has Apple switched to IGZO panels for the iPad Air or not?
