New iPad takes “several hours” to charge due to bigger battery

For those of you wondering how Apple managed to keep the iPad's legendary 10 hour battery life despite the addition of a Retina display and LTE technology, we've come across a good explanation: the battery is a lot bigger than its predecessors. Surprise!

How much is a lot? Well according to the recent iFixit teardown, and other reports, the new iPad's battery has roughly 70% more capacity than the one used to power the iPad 2. But unfortunately this also means that it takes a lot longer to charge...

Every time Apple releases new hardware, the tech world awaits its inevitable teardown. Apple's products are just as much a feat in engineering as they are sleek and beautiful. And everyone wants to know how they've done it.

It would seem as if Apple could do no wrong these days. It recently introduced a new tablet that, even though it has yet to officially go on sale, has created quite the buzz among consumers. And its stock has just hit an all time high.

At the end of February, AAPL was flirting with the $550 per share mark. But it fell back down below $520 just before the new iPad was unveiled. Ever since then, however, the stock has been on an unstoppable upward climb...

New iPad still doesn’t allow FaceTime calls over cellular connection

Even though it's been around for a couple of years now, FaceTime has really struggled to gain massive user adoption. Mac and iOS owners just aren't using it as much as you think they would for a free, no-hassle video-calling service.

One of the main reasons for its stumbles is the fact that iOS devices have not been able to make FaceTime calls outside of Wi-Fi networks (unless you're jailbroken obviously). And it doesn't look like that's going to change with the new iPad...

Get ready, new iPads are starting to arrive at retail stores

Even though some folks appear to be getting their new iPads early, the rest of us are stuck waiting until March 16th. Pre-ordered units are scheduled to start arriving this Friday. And the tablet is slated to hit retail stores the same day.

The good news is that if you plan on braving the lines this week, there are several retailers expected to be carrying the tablet on launch day. In fact, it looks like Best Buy has already started receiving inventory of new iPad units...

LG Display also tapped as panel supplier for new iPad

Yesterday, we reported that Samsung was the sole manufacturer of the Retina displays Apple is using in its new iPad. Although Sharp and LG were expected to be the main panel suppliers for the tablet, word is that they couldn't meet Apple's tough QC standards.

But it appears that this may not be the case — at least for LG anyways. Reuters is reporting today that it has heard from an anonymous source that LG Display is also filling Retina display panel orders for the new iPad...
