Microsoft Joins the iPad Accessory Game With a $50 Keyboard

Microsoft is on something of an Apple jaunt at the moment. The Windows and Office king has already been releasing iOS apps quicker than anyone else over the last few days, and it has now decided to join the lucrative iOS device accessory market with the Mobile Keyboard 5000.

Despite pushing its upcoming Windows 8 as the true tablet operating system, Microsoft has announced a new Bluetooth mobile keyboard for use with the iPad. It will also in theory worth with Android tablets and presumably future Windows 8 devices (it will not work with the Kindle Fire, by the way).

As far as hardware keyboards go, this offering from Microsoft doesn't look bad at all, assuming you can overlook those Windows keys.

American Airlines Pilots Given the Go-Ahead to Use iPads In the Cockpit

As of this friday, your favorite American Airlines pilot might be playing with a shiny iPad 2 while navigating through the air at 30,000 feet. That is because the airline is the first to receive the go-ahead from the FAA to use Apple's tablet as a replacement for paper-based flight documents, beginning Friday 16th of December.

The move will help American Airlines lose weight thanks to the removal of massive books and other flight documents from each flight, and if you've ever been over your allowed luggage weight on a flight, you will be acutely aware that weight equals money when in the air.

iPad vs. Lava Isn’t Really a Fair Fight

Some people aren't happy unless they are destroying things. We've already witnessed the various "will it blend" videos showing Apple hardware being subjected to the inside of a blending machine, but the latest method of destroying an iPad really takes the cake.

For a reason we have yet to fathom, iDevice accessory maker ZooGue's CEO thought it would be a good idea to see what happens when you dip an iPad 2 into lava. Yes, you did read that right...

iStation Keyboard and Speaker Dock: Retro Class Comes to the iPad

Normally, something going by the name of "iStation" would make us cringe, but this time around we're going to make an exception. This particular iStation takes us back to our youth, and we love it!

This iStation is an iPad stand that also doubles as a home for speakers and a Bluetooth keyboard, both of which are included in the $140 asking price. Once everything is hooked up and switched on, the whole thing gives the effect of an old-school computer, just like we used to have when we were kids. (Stop laughing in the back there, we're not that old!)

Call us crazy, but there is just something appealing about taking a state-of-the-art tablet and making it look like an old PC. No, really...

Infinity Blade 2 Starting to Hit the App Store, Here’s What People Are Saying

Infinity Blade was one of the first real games to hit iOS. Yes, Angry Birds and Flight Control had come before, but those type of games could never be called an epic adventure full of swords and things to swing said swords at.

When the Infinity Blade creators, Epic, originally showed the game off on an iPhone 4, it looked gorgeous. The sequel goes one or two steps further, and if you're playing the game on an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 then you're in for a real treat.

Some lucky folks have been playing Infinity Blade 2 for a while now, and they've gone and shared their opinions with us, the people of the internet. Here's a quick roundup of what people are saying...

Get Haptic Feedback on the iPad with the TouchFire Keyboard

Those with good memories, or at least those that can remember back to January of 2010, will probably remember the intense debate that raged around the original iPad. While many decided that it was purely a content consumption device, others argued that the on-screen keyboard's generous size would make it a device that could be used to create content, too.

Fast forward to today, halfway through the iPad 2's life cycle, and we're not really any wiser as to how useful the iPad is as a content creation device. Most of our misgivings come down to that software keyboard and its inability to offer any long term writing usefulness.

Part of the problem is the complete lack of haptic feedback, and as if by magic, one Kickstarter project is aiming to put that problem right.

Best Buy Completely Sells Out of iPad 2 Stock, Still Plenty of Android Tablets Left

With Black Friday finally over and the madness it creates beginning to dissipate, stores and online retailers are now taking stock and more importantly, counting the cash.

If Best Buy's online store is anything to go by, Apple's iPad has been the big seller this year, with all of the iPad 2 stock now unavailable to order due to high demand. Best Buy did offer a near $50 off discount on the iPad 2 yesterday.

But it's OK, Best Buy still has plenty of of Galaxy Tabs available for purchase...

Infinity Blade 2 Trailer Shows Off Amazing Graphics

During a highly anticipated media event last month, Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S. Although the handset looks similar to its predecessor, it includes a number of internal changes. Among those changes is the addition of the A5 dual core processor.

To show off the iPhone 4S' performance capibilities, Apple demoed the upcoming Infinity Blade 2 title from Epic games. The original Infinity Blade was a hit, and set the bar for in-game graphics. Well its successor doesn't just raise the bar, it smashes it...

Apple’s Black Friday Deals Revealed

Yesterday, we started seeing Black Friday banners pop up on Apple.com. The top of the image read "Every gift list has its day," and was followed by a request for customers to return to Apple's online store on November 25th for a special one-day shopping event.

Given Apple's track record, we weren't expecting the kind of deep discounts that other retailers will be offering this week. And it looks like we were spot on. 9to5Mac has gotten ahold of a copy of Apple's Black Friday deals, and as last year, they seem fairly modest...

Apple Airs New iPad 2 “Love” Commercial

Last night, Apple aired a new TV ad for the iPad 2. The commercial is fairly similar to previous adverts, showing people from all walks of life using the tablet in different ways.

The ads are actually an accurate reflection of how the iPad has made its way into several industries. We've seen the iPad replace everything from voters ballads to NFL play books...
