Jailbreak tweaks of the week: OnceMore, Photicon, & more…

Despite what appeared to be a couple of busy weeks previously, it seems the jailbreak tweak assembly line has slowed down slightly once more, as releases weren't as rapid this week.

Nevertheless, we wrap up with a jailbreak tweak roundup every single Sunday, so we'll be taking this opportunity to talk about all of the jailbreak tweaks that were released this week, starting with our favorites.

AdaptiveColorAlerts colorizes all your alert messages to match anything behind them

Most people use banner notifications for their day-to-day notifications, but some apps like Calendar and Reminders default to alert-style notifications because they require a little bit of extra attention.

For the most part, these alert messages look pretty boring on a stock iOS device, but with a new free jailbreak tweak release called AdaptiveColorAlerts, your alerts can automatically color themselves based on whatever background is residing behind them.

CoolBooter demo: the dual-boot tool for iOS

Developer Jonathan Seals recently released a new piece of work called CoolBooter, an interesting tool which allows some 32-bit devices to dual-boot different iOS firmwares. With a simple reboot it can allow, for example, switching between iOS 6 and iOS 9. Whilst this functionality is commonplace in the desktop computing world, booting multiple operating systems on iOS devices is much rarer.

Sebastien and I talked briefly about the tool on Let's Talk Jailbreak 157, and in this article I'll give some more info, as well as a video demonstration of it in action.

AutoLaunch can re-launch apps after they crash unexpectedly [jailbreak]

Apps, whether they're downloaded from the App Store or Cydia, can crash from time to time because of underlying bugs, and re-launching it will sometimes let you go about using the app without any issues.

If you use a particular app that seems to crash here and there, then a new free jailbreak tweak called AutoLaunch could be your next best friend. It can automatically re-launch any app that crashes on your device so you don't have to re-launch it yourself.

MultiActions lets you move and delete apps in bulk

One of the major shortcomings for those with iPhones and iPads, especially those with lots of apps installed on them, is the fact that you have to move or delete your apps one at a time. This becomes cumbersome when you want to put a number of your apps in or out of folders or delete multiple apps at once.

A new jailbreak tweak called MultiActions, on the other hand, will exclude your device from these shortcomings, as it allows you to move or delete multiple apps in bulk without having to do things one at a time.

AntennaGIFDL lets you download GIFs from the Antenna Reddit client app

If you prefer the Antenna Reddit client over the default app from the service itself, then you’re probably familiar with the fact that it lacks a way to download animated GIF images when viewing them from the app.

A new free jailbreak tweak called AntennaGIFDL fixes that by building in a way to download animated GIF images from the Antenna app straight to your device’s Camera Roll.

CasualAlarm uses random songs from your music library for alarm sounds

Tons of people use their iPhone as a means of waking up every morning thanks to the built-in alarm feature, and while there are a number of alarm tones to pick from and despite being able to choose any local song on your device as an alarm sound, there is very little diversity whenever you choose either of these methods.

A new free jailbreak tweak called CasualAlarm aims to spice things up by randomizing whatever your alarm might be when it’s time to wake up in the morning, and it does this by shuffling through your very own music library. With it, you will have something different to listen to each morning when it’s time to wake up.

Hide or show your Home screen dock on demand with ShyDock

In macOS, you can configure your application dock to hide away and only appear when you need it, so wouldn’t it be nice to bring that kind of functionality over to your iPhone or iPad as well?

With a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed ShyDock, you can hide or show your app dock on demand with a simple Activator action.

ForceInPicture enables Picture in Picture mode on unsupported devices

Picture in Picture mode is a type of multitasking that was introduced with iOS 9 so you could complete other tasks while simultaneously watching video. Unfortunately those with iPhones, iPod touches, and even some models of iPad can’t use it because it's restricted to certain models of iPad only.

A new jailbreak tweak called ForceInPicture is now available in Cydia that will enable Picture in Picture mode on all unsupported devices, so long as you’re running iOS 9 or iOS 10 on them.

Cuttlefish tints 3D Touch menu backgrounds on the Home screen to match the app color

Those who use 3D Touch to access the Home screen menu shortcuts from application icons know its usefulness for getting to specific app actions quickly. On the other hand, all of the 3D Touch Home screen menus are pretty bland, and no matter what app you use the 3D Touch gesture on, the menu is always the same color.

A new free jailbreak tweak called Cuttlefish aims to change that by dynamically colorizing the menu background blur to match the dominant color of the application icon you’re using the 3D Touch gesture on.
