As we just told you, the evad3rs have released a new jailbreak tool called evasi0n7, and it allows you to easily jailbreak iOS 7. The good news is that the hack works with all flavors of iOS 7, which includes iOS 7.0.1, iOS 7.0.2, iOS 7.0.3, 7.0.4, 7.0.5, and 7.0.6. (no jailbreak for iOS 7.1 at this time).

As usual, the evad3rs have made the utility fairly easy to use. But also as usual, we know there will be folks out there looking for a bit of help using it. So we’ve created an easy-to-follow tutorial to show you how to jailbreak iOS 7 on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch...

Evad3rs release untethered iOS 7 jailbreak

In a move that I think caught all of us way off-guard, the evad3rs have just released an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7. The team is calling the hack evasi0n7, and it's compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4.

Folks with devices jailbroken on iOS 6.1.x are now free to update to iOS 7 without losing their JB. But if you just absolutely can't stand the new operating system, it sounds like a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3/4/5 will be released in the near future. More details after the fold...

Pod2g denies claims that jailbreak was stolen from evad3rs

If you've noticed a shortage of jailbreak news on iDB lately, that's simply because there hasn't been any to give. While the evad3rs are hard at work hacking iOS 7, we've heard little about their progress since planetbeing's 'all the pieces' tweet in October.

This changed, though, last week, when reports began surfacing that someone close to the group had stolen a jailbreak from them and sold it to a private buyer. But evad3rs member pod2g has denied the claim, and says the iOS 7 JB is progressing slowly...

New website solicits crowdfunded reward for an iOS 7 jailbreak

Is iOS 7 jailbroken yet? No. But if you're the one who can turn that answer into a yes, there's a growing bounty of crowdfunded dollars awaiting you. That's the idea behind isios7jailbrokenyet.com—a site where people can go to donate money to fund an open source jailbreak for iOS 7.

The venture has generated over $2000 at the time of this post, and it uses Stripe to accept donations from those eager to free their devices from Apple's constraints. The prize money will go to the first developer(s) who release an open source iOS 7 jailbreak. As you might expect, there are quite a few stipulations involved in order to be eligible to win. Following its big iPad event yesterday, Apple seeded iOS 7.0.3 to the public. While there are no major new features in the update, it does include several fixes for issues like iMessage, inaccurate sensor data, and more.

Initially, we warned folks who are hoping to jailbreak down the road to stay away from the new firmware until we were sure it was safe to update. Well late last night, MuscleNerd gave jailbreakers a digital thumbs up...

Planetbeing says evad3rs may have all the pieces for iOS 7 jailbreak

Good news on the iOS 7 jailbreak front this afternoon. It looks like the evad3rs—a hacking team made up for pod2g, MuscleNerd, pimskeks and planetbeing—are getting closer to a useable jailbreak for the update.

Planetbeing tweeted out a few moments ago that he and the rest of the team are 'still working hard on the jailbreak,' and that they mean even have all the pieces at this point—though they're not certain just yet...

Apple no longer signing iOS 6.1.3/4

Bad news this evening for anyone hoping to downgrade from iOS 7 to a lower firmware. It appears that Apple is no longer signing iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 for a majority of its devices, effectively terminating their ability to downgrade.

This is significant for a few reasons. For one, folks who upgraded to iOS 7 and don't like the redesigned UI are now essentially stuck with it for the foreseeable future. And more importantly, word is a 6.1.3/4 jailbreak is coming...

Pod2g says he’s becoming increasingly confident in iOS 7 jailbreak

Good news on the jailbreak front this evening, as pod2g has just tweeted out that he is becoming "more and more confident about an iOS 7 public jailbreak." He's careful to note, however, that this doesn't mean one is coming soon.

Still, this is a great vote of confidence from pod2g, as there has been little said about the state of the iOS 7 jailbreak since word got out last week that the evad3rs were looking into it. Well, planetbeing provided a minor update on Wednesday...

Planetbeing provides update on iOS 7 jailbreak status

Yesterday, the Evad3rs' @planetbeing said that the team behind the Evasi0n jailbreak for iOS 6 was starting some initial investigation into the possibility of an iOS 7 jailbreak. It doesn't look like they plan on wasting much time in the process.

In an update provided via Twitter, planetbeing states that he's achieved unsigned userland code execution using some of the stuff the team has held in reserve. As mentioned yesterday, the Evad3rs are now on a reconnaissance mission to see what exploits still work with iOS 7.

Now that iOS 7 GM has been officially released, the evad3rs — the team responsible for bringing us the iOS 6 evasi0n jailbreak last winter — have started looking into iOS 7. The team, according to prominent iOS hacker and team member @planetbeing, are now in a reconnaissance phase to see which exploits, if any, still work with iOS 7.

This is being done on existing devices like the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, etc. The new devices, especially the iPhone 5S with its 64-bit processor, will presumably be another massive hurdle to overcome once they launch later this month. Regardless of what the final outcome may eventually be, this is great news for those of us who would like a jailbreak for iOS 7.

When iOS 7 drops later this month, it will mark the largest and most radical update in the platform's history. In addition to its number of new features, the software's UI has been rebuilt from the ground up, bringing about new colors, fonts and other elements.

And while most people—at least those who have seen it—seem to be ok with the changes, others are counting on an iOS 7 jailbreak to get rid of the makeover. But that may be easier said than done, because according to Saurik, the future looks bleak for theming...

Preview: LockBar Pro

LockBar Pro is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that brings a little of the iOS 7 flavor to lesser firmware. A tweak that's obviously been influenced by the Control Center feature in iOS 7, LockBar Pro is sure to satisfy those who desire to have some of the feature set from Apple's newest firmware, but are relegated to iOS 6.
