OS X Updated to 10.7.2, Now Supports iCloud

Apple is very busy this week, as is evident by their release of iOS 5, iCloud.com, iWork updates, new apps like Find My Friends, AirPort Utility, and more.

Just moments ago, Apple pushed out OS X Lion 10.7.2, which implements iCloud directly into OS X.

iCloud is Apple's flagship cloud service, which will allow you to push contacts, bookmarks, email, and more directly to all of your iOS devices wirelessly..

Apple Releases iOS 5 to the Public, Update Available Now

Apple today made iOS 5 available to the public, with the update now being pushed out via iTunes for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

The update, first previewed back in June, has seen 7 betas seeded to iOS developers, as well as the final GM release after last week's "Let's Talk iPhone" event.

Offering more changes than we care to list (we've already done that once), this is the biggest revamp of iOS to date...

iTunes in the Cloud Launching Internationally Right Now

Back when Apple first announced iCloud, and the subsequent beta, one of the new features to make the biggest splash was iTunes in the Cloud. Up until that point, if an iTunes customer bought a song and deleted it they were stuck with no option but to either call Apple support and try to sweet talk them into issuing a refund or replacement track, or to simply stump up the cash all over again.

With iTunes in the Cloud, that was no-longer the case.  Now, a new Purchased section in iTunes lists all bought music as well as apps and books, and the world is a better place for it.

Unfortunately, while books and apps found their way outside the US, music did not. Until now...

Dev Team Working on Merging PwnageTool and RedSn0w Features Together

Dev Team frontman MuscleNerd made an interesting comment on Twitter today about the future of PwnageTool and RedSn0w for iOS 5.

Both jailbreak tools will be essentially merged together for an upcoming iOS 5 jailbreak. PwnageTool has been a Mac-only jailbreak tool for years that allows iPhone users to preserve their basebands. A future version of RedSn0w will let users create custom IPSW files to preserve the iPhone's baseband as well...

iOS 5 Will Remove Multi-Touch Gestures From Your Original iPad

We're afraid it's not all good news today. With the entire iPhone, iPad and iPod touch-owning public eagerly awaiting the public release of iOS 5, all is not rosy on the iOS front, especially if you happen to be a proud owner of the first-generation iPad.

If you've grown comfortable with the multi-touch gestures Apple added earlier this year to the iPad, you're going to be in for a shock when your iPad restarts after installing iOS 5, for those same gestures will be gone. Lost forever...

Apple Releases Find My Friends Social Network for iOS 5 [Video]

As noted by MacStories, Apple just released the Find My Friends social network for iOS 5. Find My Friends was introduced at Apple's "Let's Talk iPhone" last week.

Find My Friends runs on iCloud and enables users to share their location with friends while also seeing the location of other friends. The app integrates with the Maps and Contacts app in iOS 5.

How to Get Ready for iOS 5 and iCloud Tomorrow

Apple is finally releasing iOS 5.0 and iCloud to the public tomorrow. Both products was initially previewed to developers at Apple's WWDC conference this past June.

After 7 consecutive developer betas, iOS 5 reached its final Gold Master version on October 4th. The public version drops tomorrow with iCloud. It's time to get ready...

‘Activator’ Update For iOS 5 Brings Native Twitter And Notification Center Actions

No less than a few minutes after I posted about TwitterTask, iDB viewers and readers were on it like white on rice.

I hereby stand corrected; TwitterTask isn't the only way to send out native tweets from anywhere on a jailbroken iOS device.

That's because Ryan Petrich's iOS 5 compatibility update to Activator wasn't just some minor change to make sure it worked on the new firmware; no, it includes quite a few new features; Twitter and Notification Center actions being among them...

TwitterTask: Send Tweets From Anywhere In iOS 5

iOS 5's Twitter integration is nice and everything, but it's not without its shortcomings.

The biggest shortcoming for Twitter integration in iOS, is the inability to send a tweet from anywhere; without an attachment.

As it stands now, you have to perform an action such as sending a picture, in order to send out a tweet in iOS. No longer...

Let the Rollouts Begin, Apple Releases iTunes 10.5

This is perhaps Apple's biggest week in its history when it comes to software releases. The Cupertino company is expected to rollout iCloud, iOS 5, and several software updates to make sure everything stays compatible.

Today, Apple rolled out the first piece of the puzzle: iTunes 10.5. Although it's been available in beta for developers since June, this is the first time that the public has been given access. What's new in the software? Hit the jump for the full change log...

PowerCenter: A Beautiful Notification Center Widget for iOS 5

Since iOS 5 hits tomorrow, jailbreak developers are starting to update more of their widgets, tweaks and apps to be compatible with Apple's latest and greatest iOS firmware.

Along with that, we here at iDB have begun to take a keen notice of what's available for jailbreakers. Many of the current jailbreak tweaks for iOS 5 are Notification Center widgets, and few are prettier than PowerCenter.

PowerCenter is a tweak that allows you to quickly respring, reboot, or power down your iPhone with a slide of your finger, and it's a beauty. Catch the full video walkthrough after the break...
