SparseRestore exploit helps developer port several iPadOS features to iPhone
It was only yesterday that we shared how iOS developer Duy Tran (@TranKha50277352) used the SparseRestore exploit to bypass the three-app limitation in the SideStore sideloading application for iPhones and iPads, but more recently, it seems the developer has managed something perhaps even more interesting.
Developer bypasses SideStore 3-app limit with SparseRestore exploit
SparseRestore is the exploit everybody is talking about right now. It’s what made installing TrollStore on iOS 17.0 possible for the general public for the first time since the firmware stopped being signed, and it was also used in various hacks such as MisakaX and Nugget, just to name a few.

Nugget updated to v3.0 for ‘parity’ with Nugget Mobile & other improvements
Nugget, the backup-based hacking utility that makes use of the same SparseRestore exploit that the TrollRestore TrollStore installation method does to allow system customization on iOS 17.0-18.1 beta 4 without a jailbreak, received an update over this past weekend to version 3.0 with what iOS developer LeminLimez calls a “parity update with Nugget Mobile.”

FrontboardAppLauncher project brings us one step closer to windowed multitasking on TrollStore devices
While TrollStore is most commonly known as a perma-signing utility that allows for the permanent installation of sideloadable apps via a CoreTrust exploit, a lesser-known fact is that TrollStore’s powerful CoreTrust exploit offers elevated privileges for your iPhone or iPad’s system. This is what makes TrollStore-centric hacks and add-ons that mimic jailbreak tweak-like functionality possible.
Apple stops signing iOS 17.6.1, ending firmware downgrades from iOS 17.7 & 18.0
As you may recall, Apple recently released two different versions of iOS & iPadOS 17.6.1. Both builds of this are now unsigned as of Monday afternoon, which ends Apple’s official support for downgrading to this particular firmware by way of iTunes on Windows or Finder on macOS.
Fifth beta of iOS 18.1 patches SparseRestore exploit, and all hacks made possible by it
Apple on Monday released iOS & iPadOS 18.1 beta 5 — the latest iteration of the pre-release of iOS & iPadOS 18.1 firmware with minor tweaks and enhancements for end users. But one other thing that hardly went unnoticed was that it patches the SparseRestore exploit.
