Electra Team: iOS 11.2-11.3.1 jailbreak tool “will be dropping within a few days”

Good news on Wednesday for those who’ve been eagerly awaiting a jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1: the Electra Team announced that their upcoming jailbreak tool would be released in coming days.

As it would seem, the Electra Team will use an in-house APFS bypass to solve the remount issue that was delaying the tool’s release. Now all that appears to be left is a bit of packaging and polishing before Electra 11.3.1 becomes readily available to the public.

Cydia demoed on iOS 11.3.1 as Electra Team offers insight into the tool’s progress

As we inch closer to the imminent release of an Electra jailbreak tool with support for iOS 11.2-11.3.1, we’re beginning to see exciting tidbits and teasers from the developers of the Electra Team that are actively working on it.

Among those was a Tweet shared by @nullriver, which incorporates numerous screenshots depicting the iconic Cydia app running on iOS 11.3.1:

Significant progress made on Electra jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1

It wasn’t long ago that security researcher Ian Beer released a handful of convenient exploits for some of the latest iterations of iOS 11, and now CoolStar's Electra jailbreak tool is well on its way to supporting these particular firmware versions as a result.

While the official Electra web page hasn’t been updated with a new version of the tool just yet, the Electra Team continues to update the jailbreak community with progress milestone announcements as they transpire.

Ian Beer’s new VFS exploit facilitates various iOS 11.3.1-centric jailbreak projects

Ian Beer’s newly-released tfp0 exploit for iOS 11.3.1 ignited a lot of hope for a corresponding jailbreak tool, and it shouldn’t be long before jailbreak tool developers like CoolStar are able to deliver a functional product to the public masses.

But Beer hasn’t stopped there; the renowned security researcher shared a new proof-of-concept VFS exploit dubbed ‘empty_list’ on Twitter this Wednesday that seems to be facilitating innovative works in the jailbreak community.

The name Ian Beer should sound pretty familiar by now, as he was the security researcher behind the tfp0 exploit for iOS 11.0-11.1.2 that made CoolStar’s popular Electra jailbreak tool possible.

But Beer is about to become even more popular after a Tweet shared Tuesday afternoon. It appears that he may have yet another tfp0 exploit up his sleeve; only this time, it supports firmware as new as iOS 11.3.1.

Electra 1.0.2 released to address the APT 0.7 compatibility issue

Following the first public release of the Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-11.1.2 this week, there were some initial discrepancies with official versions of Saurik’s Cydia dependencies.

Electra users were later advised to avoid installing the APT 0.7 update from Saurik’s Cydia/Telesphoreo repository, but a new update to Electra on Tuesday should address these issues head-on.

CoolStar seeds Electra RC 1.3 to developers

The Electra jailbreak tool has been in beta since it came to fruition in mid-January, but CoolStar changed that this week after seeding a limited developer-only release of Electra RC 1.

On Saturday, he pushed yet another developer-only build dubbed Electra RC 1.3. The revised jailbreak tool adds support for an iOS 11-compatible version of Ryan Petrich’s RocketBootstrap utility, among other things.
