Checkra1n jailbreak updated to version 0.12.3 with M1 Mac support, iOS 14.5 support, & bug fixes

It’s been a hot minute since the checkra1n jailbreak tool received its last update, and given how much has changed since then, it was only a matter of time before it would receive one.

The latest update comes to us this Thursday afternoon in the form of checkra1n version 0.12.3 with official support for up to iOS & iPadOS 14.5 and preliminary support for Apple’s latest M1-equipped Macs along with various bug fixes.

iOS 14.5 and other OS updates coming next week

Folks excited for the big iOS 14.5 update won't have to wait much longer for its release. In a footnote of its AirTag press release, Apple noted that the new accessory will require the update, which would be landing on devices sometime next week.

Apple: “We’re not against digital advertising”

Apple is getting ready to publicly launch the new App Tracking Transparency feature in iOS 14.5 that'll let its customers consent to being tracked across other apps and websites. The advertising industry has been bracing for these changes for months and now Apple's chief executive Tim Cook is on the record saying his company is not against digital advertising.
