The Dynamic Island is something that first debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro series of handsets to replace the notch-based TrueDepth camera system that debuted with Face ID when Apple launched the iPhone X, and it’s designed to integrate all of the TrueDepth camera system into a blacked out region of the OLED display that integrates tightly with system animations and notifications to provide the illusion that it’s a part of the display.

Another week, another intriguing write-up by the young and talented hobbyist security researcher @alfiecg_dev, who just this weekend published a blog post about a new deterministic kernel exploit called Trigon that is based on CVE-2023-32434, the same bug that the Kernel File Descriptor (KFD) exploit utilized with puaf_smith and was patched in iOS & iPadOS 16.5.1.

This Sunday, February 16th marks the 1-year anniversary since Dopamine jailbreak developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) released Dopamine v2 with support for the Kernel File Descriptor (KFD) exploit, which introduced support for up to iOS & iPadOS 16.5 on arm64e A15-A16 devices, iOS & iPadOS 16.5.1 on arm64e A12-A14 devices, and up to iOS & iPadOS 16.6.1 on arm64 devices.
