AT&T’s new Mobile Share data plans now available

AT&T made good on its promise today and rolled out its new Mobile Share data plans. The launch comes amidst swirling controversy regarding the plans, and the new FaceTime over Cellular feature in iOS 6.

The new plans look extremely similar to Verizon's Share plans, where subscribers start with unlimited talk and text, and then pay extra according to how much data and how many smartphones they need...

T-Mobile to start offering new truly unlimited data plans September 5

The unlimited data plan, for all intents and purposes, is dead on two of America's largest wireless carriers. Both AT&T and Verizon recently switched to Shared data plans, and they're not looking back.

But while other operators are eradicating the unlimited plan, T-Mobile is embracing it. The carrier just announced that it is going to start offering new unlimited, unthrottled data plans next month...

AT&T says FaceTime over Cellular feature will require Shared Data plan

Some news today for AT&T customers hoping to take advantage of the new FaceTime over Cellular feature in iOS 6. The carrier has just announced that it won't be charging subscribers separately for the service.

The news comes in the wake of ongoing criticism, after warning messages started popping up in handsets running iOS 6 last month indicating that the feature would be an additional cost for AT&T customers.

But there is one major stipulation...

Apple submits its master plan for a large-scale data center in Oregon

Apple is moving the ball forward to build a new data center in Prineville, Oregon. Having purchased an 160-acre parcel in Prineville from Crook County for $5.6 million back in February, the company has now filed paperwork with the city officials revealing plans to build a monster 500,000 square feet data center facility akin to that in Maiden, North Carolina which powers iCloud...

Verizon’s secret 20GB shared data plan

For the two largest wireless carriers in the US, unlimited plans are out. Verizon introduced its new shared data plans back in June of this year, and AT&T has quickly followed suit.

The removal of unlimited plans have left some power mobile users looking for alternative solutions. After all, Verizon's shared data plans only go up to 10GB per month. Or do they?

Photos of Apple’s NC campus show solar farm and new tactical data center

The sneaky folks over at Wired just flew a 1949 Piper PA-11 (Cub Special) aircraft over Apple's Maiden, North Carolina campus to see what the old Cupertino company was up to. And apparently, it's building stuff.

The publication's "iSpy Plane" managed to grab photos of a number of new structures on the campus, including Apple's 100-acre solar farm, and its mysterious "tactical data center" we learned about last month...

Sprint’s CEO reaffirms plans to keep unlimited data, for now

With recent moves by both AT&T and Verizon to nudge their remaining customers off of unlimited data and onto their new share plans, the spotlight has turned to Sprint.

AT&T announces shared data plans, available in late August

The nation's #2 carrier, AT&T Mobility, today announced shared data plans, in response to Verizon's shared data option which became available June 28. And just like the Big Red carrier's Share Everything plans, new plans from AT&T allow new and existing subscribers to share cellular data across smartphones, tablets and other devices, plus get unlimited talk and text.

According to a media release, current customers, including business users, won't be required to switch to the new plans. Should they decide to switch, they can do so without a contract extension. More importantly, AT&T says there will be no changes to its device upgrade policy...

AT&T preparing to launch shared data plans

Once Verizon announced its new 'shared data plan' strategy, we knew that it was only a matter of time before AT&T followed suit. As the two largest carriers in the US, the companies often take queues from one another.

AT&T's CEO all-but-confirmed the carrier's switch to shared data back in May of this year, but wouldn't give any specifics on a launch date. It can't be too far off though, as some users are already seeing the new plans...
