Dark Mode

DarkAlertPls makes all iPhone alerts respond to iOS 13’s dark mode

Albeit rare, iOS sometimes displays alerts as opposed to banners. These alerts are designed to appear at the center of the display, usually with a prompt of some sort for the user to respond to.

Unfortunately, even if you’ve configured your iOS 13 handset for dark mode, some of these alerts may still come through as light instead of dark. This is a problem that iOS developer LaughingQuoll aims to fix with a newly released jailbreak tweak called DarkAlertPls.

Edictus lets users create Dynamic & Live iOS wallpapers for free

Just last week, we took an in-depth look at a jailbreak tweak dubbed DynaWall that permitted users to create Dynamic and Live wallpapers for their iOS device. With it, users could expand their handset’s wallpaper options when switching between dark and light modes. And if that wasn’t enough, users could even create their own animated Live wallpapers.

DynaWall was certainly an impressive release, but the full version also came with a price tag. That’s one reason why we’re particularly excited to share the release of a new free jailbreak tweak called Edictus by iOS developers aboutzeph and Soongyu Kwon.

DynaWall lets you make custom Dynamic/Live wallpapers, Lite version now available

iPhone and iPad users know exactly what it means to use Dynamic or Live wallpapers. Both forms of wallpaper come pre-installed by Apple from the factory, but herein lies the problem – it’s rather difficult to make your own custom Dynamic or Live wallpapers. That’s why a utility dubbed DynaWall by iOS developer The_Lucifer recently came to fruition in the jailbreak community.

With DynaWall, users can create custom Dynamic and Live wallpapers directly on their device using images gathered from their Camera Roll or from third-party image sites such as Bing, Reddit, or Unsplash. Once those images are selected, the app processes them and stores them in the native Wallpaper library to be applied by the end user.

Dawn lets you mix and match dark & light mode elements on iOS 13

Dark mode is one of the top new features of iOS 13, and while it looks great how it comes out of the box, Apple unfortunately doesn’t offer much to its users by way of dark or light mode customization.

If you agree, then Dawn is a newly released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer EthanRDoesMC that offers something of a middle ground between dark and light mode. With it, you can enable some features of iOS’ native light mode even when dark mode is turned on, and vice-versa.

Ayedapt forces your iPhone’s Home screen icons to obey iOS’ dark mode setting

One of my favorite features that shipped with iOS 13 was a native system-wide dark mode that’s both aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eyes at night. Unfortunately, Apple left the Home screen’s app icons out of the picture when making dark mode a reality for stock iOS devices.

Here to address that issue head-on is a newly released jailbreak tweak/theme hybrid called Ayedapt by Surenix – a renowned graphic designer in the jailbreak community.

WhatsApp finally begins testing Dark Mode

Better late than never! Facebook-owned WhatsApp has (Finally!™) begun testing a brand new dark interface theme in its mobile apps for iOS and Android more than three months after Apple rolled out a system-wide Dark Mode option in iOS 13 and iPadOS.

How to enable Dark Mode in Apple Books on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

iPhone Books app in Dark Mode

Dark Mode is a wonderful tool for easing eye strain at night on your devices. It replaces that bright screen with one that’s more soothing. So if you use the Books app to read at night, Dark Mode is ideal.

Along with the darkest mode, you can pick from a couple of other options. This is great if you simply enjoy reading with a dimmer background. Here’s how to turn on Dark Mode in the Books app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

LightsOut uses ambient light to switch between iOS’ dark and light modes

If you’re jailbroken and you enjoy using dark mode to reduce eyestrain at night but prefer the standard light mode during the day for visibility, then you just might come to appreciate the convenience of a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called LightsOut by iOS developer Skitty.

iOS 13 can be configured to automatically switch between dark and light mode based on the time of day, but this unfortunately doesn’t compensate for unusual situations, such as walking into a dark room during the day. LightsOut effectively solves this problem by automatically switching your device between dark and light mode depending on the brightness level around you.

This tweak darkens the iPhone’s screenshot flash in dark environments

If you’ve ever wanted to show someone something from the display of your device without being in physical contact with them, then you might choose to capture a screenshot and send the resulting image to that person of choice. All iPhones and iPads support screenshot-taking, and if you’re familiar with the process, you should already know that iOS generates a bright white flash when the screenshot button sequence is invoked to simulate a camera flash.

It’s a nice touch to make the screenshot experience seem more realistic, but if you’re ever in a dark environment, such as peering at your phone while in bed, the bright white flash can be tear-jerkingly blinding. That’s why iOS developer XCXiao has released a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Smart Dark Flash.

Noire toggles iOS 13’s dark mode with a pull-down gesture in Settings

Apple integrates several ways into its mobile operating system to toggle iOS 13’s new dark mode feature on or off on demand, but perhaps you aren’t satisfied with them or you’d prefer to use a different method?

Enter Noire, a new and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer MTAC that lets you turn dark mode on or off with a simple swipe-down gesture in the first page of the Settings app.
