Wander: An add-on for Apple’s Shortcuts app to install the Odyssey jailbreak

The Odyssey Team officially released the Odyssey jailbreak to the general public last week following a limited public beta testing period. While the Odyssey jailbreak can be installed with the AltStore utility for both Mac and Windows, some users might be excited to learn about a new on-device option dubbed Wander by BurritoSoftware, which can be used to deploy an installation shortcut via Apple’s own free Shortcuts app.

Wander is especially made for iOS 13 devices, which makes it an ideal match for the iOS 13-centric Odyssey jailbreak. The new shortcut installs the Odyssey jailbreak with just a tap, and more importantly, is fully compatible with other side-loading utilities including AltStore, ReProvision, and signing services like Jailbreaks.app. The announcement that it would be used by the Odyssey Team was made via Twitter:

Following a month-long period of public beta testing, the Odyssey Team formally moved the Odyssey jailbreak out of beta late Friday night and released the tool for the general public’s enjoyment via the team’s official website.

Not even an hour after the official release, the Odyssey Team released its first update to the public version of its jailbreak tool coined Odyssey v1.0.1. The announcement was shared via Twitter early Saturday morning:

The Odyssey jailbreak saw a staggered release that first began with a public beta just over a month ago, but as of today, the Odyssey jailbreak is now officially available for avid jailbreakers to download and use to their hearts’ content with no such 'beta' tag attached to the name.

Odyssey Team lead developer CoolStar took to Twitter late Thursday evening to Tweet a direct download link to the Odyssey jailbreak tool’s third public beta release. This tool not only jailbreaks your handset, but also installs the Sileo package manager for tweak and app management – Cydia and other alternative package managers can be installed after the fact.

The third public beta of the Odyssey jailbreak comes nearly two weeks after the launch of the second public beta and incorporates a plethora of bug fixes and improvements in addition to updated exploit settings on a per-device basis.

GitHub reinstates Odyssey Team’s Chimera13 repository following DMCA takedown

Those who’ve been following the CoolStar-led Odyssey Team’s upcoming Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13 will remember that the tool’s corresponding Chimera13 GitHub page was slapped with a DMCA takedown request at the hands of the unc0ver team just before the tool was expected to be released to the general public.

Both sides have since submitted their parts — the unc0ver team saying that Odyssey used stolen code and the Odyssey Team obviously refuting such claims. As of today, however, it seems that GitHub chose to reinstate the Odyssey Team’s Chimera13 GitHub repository, an evident victory for the Odyssey Team and its following.

Odyssey is the Odyssey Team’s latest creation, and it’s specifically intended for jailbreaking iOS & iPadOS versions 13.0-13.7. Much like the competing unc0ver jailbreak, Odyssey is a side-loadable jailbreak app that installs a semi-untethered jailbreak.

The Odyssey jailbreak by default uses the Sileo package manager for installing packages and libhooker for tweak injection. Additionally, it installs the all-new Procursus bootstrap, which powers everything that makes this jailbreak tick. Ever since the unc0ver team issued a DMCA take down request for the Odyssey jailbreak GitHub page, many avid jailbreakers have been waiting for the smoke to clear. At this time, the investigation is still pending, and no official verdict has been declared. Odyssey lead developer CoolStar did, however, respond to the DMCA take down with an appeal. Now we wait to see what happens...

In the meantime, those avidly waiting for the Odyssey jailbreak to launch have been forced to wait longer than expected to download and use the tool. CoolStar’s most recently ETA for release is ‘whenever GitHub restores the repository,’ but things took an interesting turn early Sunday morning when CoolStar Tweeted a link encompassing what appears to be a beta pre-release version of the Odyssey jailbreak tool:

Jailbreakers who’ve been paying close attention to Twitter and /r/jailbreak over the past couple of days likely witnessed the creation of the official Odyssey Twitter account and a plethora of teasers showcasing the Electra Team’s upcoming iOS 13-centric jailbreak tool in action. As it would seem, however, the energized release is a far cry from being a drama-free one.

Odyssey jailbreak co-developer Hayden Seay, also known by many in this community as Diatrus, took to Twitter Tuesday evening to share that unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd had filed a DMCA takedown request targeting the Electra Team’s upcoming Odyssey jailbreak.

Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13 nears release as official Twitter account comes to life

It was only a couple of weeks ago that CoolStar began teasing the imminent release of the upcoming Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13 (previously referred to as Chimera13). The jailbreak still hasn’t been released at the time of this writing, but things appear to be falling into place rather quickly, and it’s attracting a lot of attention.

A brand-new Twitter account was created for the Odyssey jailbreak Monday afternoon, and that very same account began Tweeting a bevy of useful information regarding the devices that Odyssey would support out of the box and the features that the jailbreak would provide for its users.

CoolStar says Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13.0-13.5 on A9-A13 could drop this week

Electra Team lead developer CoolStar took to Discord late last night to share that the team was working diligently on a new jailbreak tool dubbed Odyssey for A9-A13 devices running iOS 13.0-13.5. If you remember those teasers about Chimera13 in the distant past, then this appears to be that very jailbreak, albeit with a different name.

Citing the brief, the Odyssey jailbreak will ship with proprietary software including libhooker and the Sileo package manager. Furthermore, it will ship with Procursus and it’s expected to be inter-compatible with checkra1n devices that have used the Odysseyra1n script to enjoy the Odyssey bootstrap on those devices.
