Fantastical 2 now honors your iOS 7 Bold Text setting, improves navigation and more

Fantastical, Flexibits' popular calendar and to-do application for the iPhone and Mac, received its mandatory iOS 7 refresh two months ago. Though a separate purchase (currently 60 percent off: only $1.99 for a limited time), Fantastical 2 justifies its asking price by managing to build upon the already strong feature set of the original release with its nicely redone interface and a host of new capabilities that help take the way you create, edit and view calendar events on iOS and OS X to the next level.

In today's quick refresh, Fantastical version 2.0.4 brings out support for Bold Text accessibility option in iOS 7, along with improved reliability of the app icon badge, a pair of UI and navigation tweaks and mandatory fixes and under-the-hood improvements...

Switching from Android to iPhone? Google now lets you export Gmail and Calendar data

Google Takeout is a handy service which allows you to download a copy of your data stored within Google products. Unfortunately, not all popular Google products are supported yet. Up until today, for example, two popular Google services used to be notably absent from Takeout: Gmail and Calendar.

As announced in a post over at the official Google blog, users can now export their Calendar data in the iCalendar format and Gmail archive in the MBOX format, both readily acceptable by Apple's OS X/iOS Calendar app and the stock OS X Mail program, respectively.

Google chairman Eric Schmidt recently posted a guide on switching from iPhone to Android so I guess today's news will appeal to Android/Google users looking to switch to the iOS platform...

Fantastical 2 updated with sound for notifications, badge options, and more

Fantastical 2, one of the apps that many of us agree is an absolute must have, has been updated with tons of improvements, bug fixes, and optimizations. If you have automatic updates enabled for your iOS device and you already own Fantastical 2, you may have already received the update. Otherwise, you can head over to the App Store to download it now.

Coming in at 16.3 MB, version 2.0.1 of Fantastical 2 adds sound to notifications, brings additional app icon badge options, and lends iPhone 4 users a performance boost. Those are among the many additional changes and fixes added in with version 2.0.1. Check inside for a rundown of the full change log.

Fantastical 2 for iOS 7 is out with new design and features

When it comes to third party calendar applications, very few names other than Fantastical come to mind. In a few years, the app has become a staple for anyone looking to improve the way they create, edit, and view calendar events on iOS or on Mac OS X.

Although I was a late adopter of Fantastical for iPhone, the app quickly became one of my essential applications. Not only it allows you to create events in a very efficient and intuitive way, but it also displays those events in a beautiful manner, greatly improving the stock experience provided by Apple.

Along with Tweetbot, Fantastical was one my most anticipated app updates for iOS 7, and I am happy to report today that Fantastical 2 is now available in the App Store, with a brand new iOS 7 look and many new features...

iOS still struggling with Daylight Saving Times as some users are affected with yet another bug [update]

iOS is no stranger to Daylight Saving Times bugs. It could actually be considered a recurring things as we've seen several occurrences of Apple's operating system not properly adjusting to time changes in the past, most notably back in 2010 and twice in 2011.

After all this time, you'd think Apple would have figured out how to properly adjust such a basic feature, but apparently they haven't. Some French users are reporting today that although the time has adjusted correctly to the country's DST change, there is still a little bug visible in the Calendar app...

Calendars 5 updated with simpler task creation and date showing on icon badge

If you ask me, Calendars 5 currently is the best calendar application for iOS 7. It's simple, elegant and works just as you would expect from an app that has been redesigned from the ground up for Apple's latest mobile operating system.

Today the app was updated with a couple of new features, making the app an even more solid alternative to the stock calendar application...

Agenda Calendar 4 review: a simple and flexible calendar app

Until Apple launches iOS 7, we are stuck with a native calendar app that looks like it was designed in 2007. Oh wait, it was. I know I’m tired of those gray blocks and blue tabs. App developers are quickly releasing attractive new calendar apps that are in sync with iOS 7 and offer functionality beyond what Apple can do.

Agenda Calendar 4 is one of those new apps that has turned event creation into a two-touch action and the look of your calendar into something livelier…

How to view all upcoming calendar events in Notification Center

NCCalendar+ for Notification Center is a recently released jailbreak tweak that makes Notification Center a lot more useful when it comes to viewing upcoming calendar events. Instead of only being able to see 1 day of events, NCCalendar+ allows you to set specific timeframes for events. Instead of only being able to see 10 events at any given time, NCCalendar+ allows you to go beyond iOS' stock arbitrary boundary. Have a look inside as we showcase NCCalendar+ on video...

Add a standalone calendar widget to Notification Center with ‘CalendarX’

CalendarX is a recently released jailbreak tweak that serves as a widget for Notification Center. It's a very interesting tweak that can be enabled by using the standard Notifications panel in the stock Settings app. The thing that makes CalendarX so unique is that it is a standalone self contained calendar app that doesn't rely on any outside functionality. In fact, none of the calendars or events that you setup within CalendarX will be displayed in the stock Calendar app or vice versa. Again, think standalone here. Depending on your outlook, that could be perceived as either a positive or a negative. Have a look past the break as I go more in-depth with CalendarX on video.
