Hot on the heels of releasing iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 to the public, Apple is already hard at work on the follow-up. As such, a period of beta testing is part of the process. Which means developers now get to try out iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 ahead of a public launch later this year.
Beta
Universal Control in macOS Monterey is now labeled as a beta
Earlier this year, when Apple unveiled macOS Monterey 12 to the world, one of the major bullet points in the features column was "Universal Control." It quickly became one of the more anticipated elements of the desktop operating system, which will let users use a single keyboard and mouse/trackpad across multiple devices. But Apple's making sure to set expectations (at least a little) ahead of the public launch.
Apple seeds fourth betas of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, tvOS 15.1, and watchOS 8.1; tenth macOS Monterey beta to developers
The march towards a public launch of iOS 15 continues. Apple is back with another beta for its next update to its popular mobile operating system, along with iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and macOS. And today, new betas are available for each platform.
WhatsApp has begun testing end-to-end encrypted iCloud backups
The Facebook-owned WhatsApp messaging service is now testing end-to-end encryption for iCloud backups. The feature was designed to protect your chat archive while it's being uploaded to or downloaded from iCloud and stored on Apple's servers (at rest).
Apple seeds third betas of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, tvOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1; ninth macOS Monterey beta to developers
Moving right along, as Apple continues its march towards the public release of iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1. To get there, though, we need more betas. And today, we have a new one for developers.
iOS 15.1 beta 2 fixes bug causing issues with unlocking iPhone 13 with Apple Watch
The iPhone 13 lineup launched earlier this month. And, unfortunately for some new owners, a bug surfaced that caused the new hardware to not properly communicate with a paired Apple Watch to access the ability to unlock the iPhone 13 with an Apple Watch. This feature is designed to make unlocking an iPhone with Face ID much more streamlined while wearing a mask (but it works without a mask, too, like when wearing certain sunglasses).
Apple seeds second betas of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, tvOS 15.1, and macOS Monterey beta 8 to developers
Earlier this month, Apple released iOS 15 to the public, along with other updates for the company's additional platforms. And now, looking ahead, the company is moving right along for the next update to the mobile operating system. Which requires some beta testing.
SharePlay is back in iOS 15.1 beta
SharePlay, which allows for some pretty great screen sharing options, was first unveiled when Apple debuted iOS 15 earlier this year. However, Apple eventually decided to hold back the feature from the wide launch of the mobile operating system's major update. So while SharePlay isn't available right now, it is still coming.
Apple seeds first betas of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, and tvOS 15.1 to developers
It was just yesterday that Apple released the next big version updates for its most popular platforms (excluding macOS). But, kind of like the rumor mill, all things must push forward. And, as a result, Apple has already started to move ahead with the next update to iOS 15 and its other platforms.

CoolStar teases libhooker mostly working on iOS 15 beta 8
Just a couple of days ago, the Odyssey Team shared that it was already investing in test devices for iOS & iPadOS 15 jailbreak development. The announcement was accompanied by a photograph of an iPod touch that had been custom engraved with the words “Odyssey Team” on the back.
More recently, Odyssey Team lead developer CoolStar took to the Sileo / Taurine / Odyssey Discord channel to share that libhooker — the tweak injection method utilized by the Chimera, Odyssey, and Taurine jailbreaks for iOS 12, 13, and 14 respectively — was mostly working on iOS 15 beta 8.
New libhooker v1.6.9 beta 1 build available to jailbreakers for public testing
If you use any of the CoolStar-led jailbreaks, including Chimera for iOS 12, Odyssey for iOS & iPadOS 13, or Taurine for iOS & iPadOS 14, then there’s a good chance that you’re using libhooker for tweak injection, which is the intricate process that lets installed jailbreak tweaks work their magic on your handset’s operating system.
While CoolStar regularly updates libhooker with improvements, CoolStar just this past weekend opted to launch a public beta of a new libhooker build dubbed libhooker v1.6.9 beta 1 to allow voluntary testers to try the latest features before they roll out to the general public by way of an official update.
