“Today at Apple” educational sessions coming to Apple Stores in May

Apple announced Tuesday that dozens of new educational sessions will be launching next month across the 495 retail outlets the company operates in the United States and around the world.

These hands-on sessions, collectively called “Today at Apple,” have been offered at Apple's flagship Union Square store in San Francisco since last year, with topics ranging from photo/video to music, coding, art, design and more. Apple says these sessions cater to all skill levels/ages and include how-to lessons, professional-level courses and more.

Apple Store going down tomorrow morning amid rumors of impending product refreshes

Reputable supply chain analysts recently told MacRumors Apple could announce new products between Monday, March 20 and Friday, March 24. Well, today Apple did something it's never done before—via its System Status webpage, the firm announced that its online stores will be undergoing maintenance tomorrow morning, March 21.

“The Apple Store will be updated and unavailable during this time,” reads the message first spotted by MacRumors. It's become a tradition for Apple to take its store offline ahead of major media events and product launches.

Apple Store shopping app now requires iOS 10

Apple's mobile shopping app, aptly named Apple Store, now requires iOS 10.0 or later. This requirement happened in the last three days and even though it's not a huge deal, it deserves to be mentioned. The app's most recent update, dated March 9, included only “various improvements and performance enhancements,” according to Apple's release notes. Apple Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch is available at no charge from App Store.

When Apple's former retail chief Ron Johnson presented the idea for tech support stations—dubbed Genius Bar—that would be located inside the company's brick-and-mortar stores, Steve Jobs loathed the concept and thought it would never work.

Apple planning to open first retail store on Samsung’s home turf

Apple is planning to open a retail store in Seoul, South Korea, reports Reuters. This will be the company's first official store in the country, which also plays home to the headquarters of Samsung, Apple's largest competitor in the smartphone space.

A spokesperson for Apple confirmed the plans with Reuters via email, saying "We're excited about opening our first Apple Store in Korea, one of the world's economic centers and a leader in telecommunication and technology, with a vibrant K-culture."

Apple gives employees t-shirt and credo print for the holidays

Apple this year is giving each of its retail employees a special edition t-shirt and credo printing gift for the holidays. MacRumors has photos of the presents, which show a gray t-shirt featuring a two-circle design made up of all of Apple's retail locations.

As for the credo, it's printed on what appears to be glossy, heavy paper and it even comes in a protective envelop. Apple introduced the 6-paragraph statement earlier this year, which starts off "we are here to enrich lives, to help dreamers become doers."

AirPods will be available in Apple Stores Monday

Apple will start selling AirPods in its retail stores on Monday, reports MacRumors. Citing a retail source familiar with the matter, the outlet says the company has begun informing its stores about the imminent launch and has even started shipping inventory.

The news follows the launch of AirPods online sales earlier this week, where shipping estimates quickly slipped beyond 4 weeks due to short supply. So for those hoping to score a pair of the wireless earbuds before Christmas, in-store is really your best bet.

Apple Store goes offline ahead of today’s “Hello again” Mac event
