More than once a year, Apple sends out invitations to something big. In the first half of the year we get an invite to that year's Worldwide Developers Conference, and then later it's all about the big ol' September event. The event is the Big Deal, of course, where all the excitement comes from. But the invites aren't without their attention grabbing antics.

New wallpapers inspired by the ‘Spring Loaded’ Apple event products

Today, Apple announced new iPad Pro, iMac, Apple TV, and AirTag hardware. Most striking is the all new, completely redesigned iMac line up, which has not been significantly updated since around 2009. The decade old design gives way to an 11mm thin chassis, poised on top of a minimal stand. The "hello" wallpaper used to announce the device harkens back to when Steve Jobs launched the Lisa. Apple announces new podcast subscription service

Among its barrage of other announcements today, Apple has revealed its plans for a new podcast subscription service. The name of it is—you guessed it—Apple Podcasts Subscriptions, and the company says it will be a 'global marketplace for listeners to discover premium subscriptions offered by their favorite creators.'

iOS 14.5 and other OS updates coming next week

Folks excited for the big iOS 14.5 update won't have to wait much longer for its release. In a footnote of its AirTag press release, Apple noted that the new accessory will require the update, which would be landing on devices sometime next week.
