New MacBook Pro starts at $1,499, some models available today

Apple just announced pricing and availability information for its shiny new MacBook Pro. Apparently it will come in 3 models, starting at $1,499, and you can order them all today. Shipping times are different, however, depending on which model you're after.

The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro is essentially a MacBook Air replacement. It shares the slimmer design and various internals with the new MacBook Pro, but it comes with physical Function keys instead of the Touch Bar, and doesn't have Touch ID.

Apple will live-stream October 27 Mac keynote

Invites for a new media event went out yesterday and Apple just confirmed that the keynote will be live-streamed through its website. As you've come to expect from iDownloadBlog, we will be providing remote coverage of the keynote along with details of the announcements. This could be the last event at Infinite Loop’s Town Hall campus.

That's because the massive Campus 2 building AKA “iSpaceship” should open come January 2017, barring any unforeseen delays. The site includes a massive underground auditorium where future corporate and press events will be taking place.

Hello again: Apple sends out invitations for October 27 Mac event

It's official! Apple is holding an event on Thursday, October 27 on its Cupertino campus. On Wednesday afternoon the company sent out the above invitation to select members of the media, asking them to "join us for a special event."

We've been expecting an October Apple event for several weeks now, and yesterday a Recode report accurately predicted it would happen on the 27. And as the invite indicates, the focus of the event is believed to be new Mac hardware.

Apple listed as exhibitor at next year’s Mobile World Congress

Apple is slated to make an appearance at the 2017 Mobile World Congress, reports MacRumors. The site points to a page (which has since been pulled) on the MWC website, which shows the company has booked exhibitor space for the event.

This is significant for a few reasons. For one, Mobile World Congress is the world's largest exhibition and conference for the mobile industry. And two, Apple's been absent from most major trade shows and conferences since the early 2000's.

Report: Apple planning to hold new Mac event October 27

Apple will introduce new Macs at an event on October 27, reports Recode. Citing sources familiar with the company's plans, the outlet says that the event will likely take place at or near Apple's Cupertino campus, rather than its typical venue in San Francisco.

Recode doesn't specify exactly which Mac products we'll see, but most of Apple's laptop and desktop lines are due for an update. A report from Japanese blog Mac Otakara yesterday called for new 13" and 15" MacBook Pro models, and a refreshed 13-inch Air.

Apple Watch Series 2 is a bit thicker and heavier than the original Apple Watch

Although they look just about the same on the outside, the new Apple Watch Series 2 is built just a little bit thicker and heavier than the Apple Watch Series 1 and the original Apple Watch.

The findings might be a deal-breaker for some people who already thought the original Apple Watch was too thick to begin with. After all, many were hoping Apple would thin out the footprint of the next-generation Apple Watch, rather than make it thicker.

Poll: Will you buy the Apple Watch Series 2?

Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 2 at yesterday's keynote event alongside the iPhone 7 lineup with improvements to speed and capability, and also bumped up the specs of the original Apple Watch all while re-branding it the Apple Watch Series 1.

But is the second-generation Apple Watch everything you were hoping for? Let us know in this poll whether or not you'll be ordering one.
