Update: It's official! This year's event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12. 

The U.S. Labor Day holiday is just days away, which means Apple's annual iPhone press event shouldn't be far behind. Though Cupertino has yet to officially announce the event, all eyes point to Wednesday, Sept. 12 as the big day. Now comes word the hardware-focused event could be Apple's first to stream through Twitter.

Apple sends out media invites for June 4 WWDC keynote

Apple on Tuesday sent out invitations for its June 4 WWDC keynote. Select members of the media, along with developers and others, have been asked to join the Cupertino company for the keynote address of its annual Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, June 4, at 10:00am PST.

Video of Apple’s iPad education event now available

Apple chose not to provide a live video stream of its iPad education event earlier today, but it has just uploaded a video of the proceeding for the folks who'd like to go back and watch it. The recording, which lasts just over an hour, is available on Apple's website here.

Apple could update iPhone SE in August, unveil iPhone 8 around October

According to a rumor published by French outlet iGeneration (Google Translate) citing its own sources, Apple could unveil a second-generation iPhone SE model at a media event in August.

The next iPhone SE could be priced at €399 instead of €489 currently, the outlet said. For comparison's sake, in the United States the current iPhone SE lineup starts at $399.

Additionally, the rumor claims that the Cupertino technology giant will debut the highly-anticipated iPhone 8 model with an OLED display around October.

Apple brings APFS to macOS High Sierra

Apple is bringing its renowned Apple Filesystem (APFS) to the macOS platform for the first time with the newly-announced macOS High Sierra operating system for Macs.

APFS first debuted in iOS 10.3 to replace the dated HFS, and the speed improvements were quickly noticed by users.
