Adobe Reader app updated with new iOS 7 design and other improvements

Adobe updated its Reader client for the iPhone and iPad today, bringing the popular PDF reading app to version 11.2.0. The update brings about a number of improvements, including a new iOS 7-inspired UI design and upgraded navigation.

While I'm sure some people aren't going to like the new design, I think it looks way better than the previous UI. The black elements and bold text have been replaced by white spaces and thinner fonts, making it easier to browse and find things...

Lightroom for iPad is coming, Adobe inadvertently leaks

An accidental (or was it?) posting on the Adobe website has revealed that the Photoshop maker is working on a mobile version of its Lightroom photo management software. Adobe released Lightroom 5 for Mac and Windows PCs last summer and has previously shown off an unnamed prototype iPad app at the Photoshop World show in Las Vegas. It looks like Lightroom for iPad will have feature parity with its desktop counterpart...

Flash Player is finally sandboxed in Safari on Mavericks, says Adobe

Yours truly long stopped using the standalone Flash Player so you could imagine I'm fairly puzzled that folks to this date continue to rely on Adobe's plug-in. I know, if you're into Flash games/apps and other Flash-authored content, there's no escaping Adobe's multimedia run-time.

Among the reasons I keep Flash miles away from my Macs: the instability, resource hoginess and excessive proneness to malware and other types of vulnerabilities and malicious attacks.

With this week’s release of Safari in OS X Mavericks, the Flash Player will now be protected by a new operating system feature called App Sandbox, Adobe announced Thursday...

Adobe releases Lightroom 5

Photoshop maker Adobe today announced the next major version of its photography software, Lightroom. Chief rival to Apple's Aperture, Lightroom 5 arrives two months after the release of a public beta. Key new features include Smart Previews, video slideshows, improved photo book creation, the Upright and Radial Gradient tool and Advanced Healing Brush. Go past the fold for additional information and a promo clip...

Adobe releases new Kuler color-picking app for iPhone

I guess the title could have read: "Adobe finally releases Kuler color-picking app for iPhone," because the company announced it nearly 2 years ago. Adobe introduced the app as part of a suite of new touch-friendly applications back in October of 2011.

But better late than never. Kuler hit the App Store this morning as the color-picking app Adobe originally promised. You can capture colors using your iPhone's camera, or previously downloaded photos, and you can create and save your own color themes...

Adobe unveils new iPad-friendly Bluetooth stylus and digital ruler

Adobe announced a number of new products and changes to its current lineup today, during a keynote at its MAX conference. The company is ditching its Creative Suite, and turning its focus to a new cloud-based platform it's calling CC.

In addition to the software announcements, Adobe also showed off new hardware today. And there are two products that we're particularly interested in, an iPad-friendly smart stylus code-named "Project Mighty," and a digital ruler...

Adobe shows off Lightroom-esque iPad app with RAW support, cloud syncing

Photoshop maker Adobe has a few more or less useful apps on the App Store, most of them tied to its Creative Cloud offering and the Creative Suite family of desktop products for pros.

Although the company caters to photography buffs with iPhone and iPad versions of Photoshop Express, Photoshop Touch, Ideas and other apps, they're pared down versions conceived as companion apps to their desktop counterparts.

But pro photographers have reasons to rejoice as Adobe's group product manager for Lightroom Tom Hogarty today on Photoshop guru Scott Kelby’s show The Grid showed off a yet unnamed prototype iPad app that will bring pro-level photo editing and image manipulation capabilities to the owners of the Apple tablet.

Among the features being promised: RAW image support, seamless sync that leverages Adobe's cloud technologies and advanced Lightroom parameters, such as exposure, clarity, shadows, highlights and white balance...

Apple may have tasked former Adobe Flash expert with iWatch work

Last month, news broke that Apple hired Adobe's former Chief Technology Officer Kevin Lynch as its new VP of technology, reporting directly to Bob Mansfield who heads the new Technologies unit combining Apple's wireless and semiconductor teams. iDB, along with many other news outlets, opined how out of character the hiring evidently was given Lynch's history of public criticism of Apple's stance on Flash. According to a new report, the ex-Adobe exec may now be a part of the engineering group that's been developing a rumored Apple smartwatch project...

Apple wins court order blocking class action in anti-poaching lawsuit

Apple, along with Google and five other Silicon Valley technology heavy-weights, has won a court order blocking a potentially devastating class-action antitrust lawsuit concerning alleged anti-poaching conspiracy.

Bloomberg reported that U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh Friday denied class action certification over accusations that said companies illegally conspired not to recruit one another’s employees, which the plaintiffs said resulted in their incomes being held down by their employers...

Clips of Adobe’s lambasting of iPhone over Flash haunt Apple’s new VP Kevin Lynch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNtTfFDena4#!

Conspiracy theorists had a field day with yesterday's confirmation that Kevin Lynch, Adobe's Chief Technology Officer, will soon be taking an executive role at Apple, joining the iPhone maker as its VP of Technology and reporting directly to Apple's SVP of Technologies Bob Mansfield. Lynch joined Adobe after the Photoshop maker snapped up Macromedia in 2005. Macromedia originally developed Flash technology and Lynch has been instrumental in its continuing development at Adobe.

By the virtue of his job, Lynch had to cross swords with Apple as the Cupertino firm refused to support Flash for the iPhone. Watchful fans have dug up this cringe worthy homage to MythBusters, a parody video from 2009 where Lynch attempts to get Flash working on the iPhone by pretending to blow up Apple's handset. He also ran over it with a steam roller and destroyed it in a blender. First day on the job should be fun, indeed! Jump pat the fold for more goodies...

Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch to join Apple as VP of technology

Remember the name Kevin Lynch, because you're probably going to be hearing a lot more of it from now on. The former Adobe CTO, or Chief Technology Officer, will soon be taking an executive role at Apple.

Reports of the high-profile hiring started circling this afternoon, and the news has since been confirmed by both Apple and Adobe. Lynch will be joining Apple as VP of technology, reporting to Bob Mansfield...

Photoshop Touch finally lands on the iPhone

After what has seemed like nearly an eternity, a useful version of Adobe Photoshop has finally landed on the iPhone. Officially dubbed Adobe Photoshop Touch for iPhone, the app is largely the same as the original iPad version, which was released some time ago.

For those of us that have to alter images on a day-to-day basis, this is a welcomed addition to the App Store library.
