How to fix safe mode crashes in iOS 8.4 when Activator is installed

You may have noticed that your device will respring into safe mode whenever the public version of Activator is installed on iOS 8.4. The problem is, many tweaks rely on Activator as a prerequisite, and Activator hasn't been updated to work with iOS 8.4 as of yet.

Does that mean that any tweak that relies on Activator is simply unusable until Ryan Petrich pushes out a public update? Not at all. Just install the Activator beta...

Activator beta now available for iOS 8.4

If you're looking to try some of the available jailbreak tweaks for iOS 8, chances are you'll need Activator to support them. Since the current public version of Activator doesn't yet play nice with iOS 8.4, Ryan Petrich has graciously released a beta version on his beta repo. Be sure to grab this Activator update to ensure better compatibility with all of your favorite jailbreak tweaks.

Activator 1.9.3 released on stock Cydia repos

The latest and greatest version of Ryan Petrich's Activator has graduated from beta status to the default Cydia repos.

If you've been trying to use Activator on your iOS 8.3 jailbreak, you may have encountered problems with the previous version. That's because the previous version wasn't optimized for iOS 8.3. With the release of Activator 1.9.3 final, that has changed, and there's no longer a need to add Ryan's beta repo to take advantage of the update.

Activator beta updated to support iOS 8.3

Activator, an absolute staple tweak for jailbreakers, has been updated for iOS 8.3. The Ryan Petrich developed jailbreak tweak is not only great on its own, but it's the backbone to a lot of the existing jailbreak tweaks, and opens up the floodgates to the rest of the vast Cydia library.

To install Activator 1.9.3 beta 5, you'll need to add Ryan's beta repo to your list of Cydia sources. Check inside for all of the details.

Ryan Petrich updates the Activator beta with two new releases

In the last few days, Ryan Petrich has updated the Activator beta with two new releases, beta 2 and beta 3 of Activator 1.9.3. The releases bring a plethora of new fixes and features to Activator, and it's obtainable by anyone who has Ryan's beta repo added to their list of Cydia sources.

NotiAction: launch Activator actions based on notification keywords

NotiAction is an innovative new jailbreak tweak that does something particularly cool—it lets you launch any Activator action by means of keywords found in incoming iOS notifications. You can designate up to 10 keywords with wildcards in the tweak's settings, and allow NotiAction to listen for those particular keywords. If a valid keyword is found, then the corresponding Activator action is automatically launched. Have a look at our video walkthrough for a demonstration of NotiAction.

Aspectus brings a Music control interface to Reachability

If you're not a big proponent of Reachability, then perhaps this new jailbreak tweak will at least convince you to use it, even if it's not the way that Apple intended it to be used. Aspectus is a recently released jailbreak tweak that brings a beautiful music control interface to the iPhone's Reachability view.

Even if you're using a device that doesn't support Reachability, Aspectus will work with Activator in order to provide access to the tweak. Read our walkthrough for more details as to how it looks and how it works.

How to define words from anywhere using Activator

Have you ever wanted to quickly learn the definition of a word, but you weren’t actually viewing the word on your iPhone? Sure, you can use Siri, but sometimes even that’s not a option or a possibility.

Define Activator is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to define text using a preset Activator gesture. Once you invoke the assigned gesture, a pop-up box appears where you can type in the term that you wish to define.

Profluence lets you assign Workflow automation to Activator gestures

Workflow, the powerful automation app available on the App Store, is extremely popular right now, and for good reason. It's one of the first apps that brings true power-user features to the iPhone in an easy to digest package, and it capitalizes on the openness brought to the fore by iOS 8.

In fact, yesterday, our own Timothy Reavis posted an article to showcase 10 popular workflows. In his post, he highlights ways to view source code, shorten URLs, scan QR codes, and more—all with Workflow.

In and of itself, Workflow is a powerful app. But how much more powerful could it be if it were able to work closer together with Activator for jailbroken iPhones? Profluence, a brand new tweak that lets you invoke Workflow automation by means of an Activator gesture, helps to answer the question.
