iOS 16 adds support for Nintendo’s Joy-Con and Switch Pro controllers

Being able to wirelessly connect an external gaming controller has been an option on iOS for quite some time. However, native support hasn't been. It was only with the launch of iOS 14.5, for instance, that Apple added native support for Sony's DualSense PlayStation 5 controller and Microsoft's wireless controller for the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. And now Nintendo is getting in on the fun, too.

iOS has supported the ability to react to specific messages for a bit of time now, but it hasn't always been a universal feature. Meaning, if you happen to find yourself in a group chat with a person (or persons!) using an Android phone, those reactions wouldn't display properly. It all looked a little muddled. As is par for the course, Apple announced new things today at it's annual Worldwide Developers Conference keynote. And considering how popular watchOS is, of course the platform was going to get stage time at this year's event. That's why we have watchOS 9, which comes with a plethora of new features, especially those built towards health-related functionality. Here's a look at what's new in the smartwatch's upcoming update.
