Just yesterday, developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) released TrollStore 2 with the new CoreTrust bug that adds iOS & iPadOS 15.5-16.6.1 & 17.0 support to the existing iOS & iPadOS 14.0-15.4.1 support.
Taking advantage of a unique CoreTrust bug in iOS and iPadOS 14.0-15.4.1, TrollStore allows the user to permanently sideload apps on their iPhone or iPad without the need to re-sign them every seven days, otherwise known as perma-signing.
Follow along as we cover the latest development surrounding TrollStore.
Just yesterday, developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) released TrollStore 2 with the new CoreTrust bug that adds iOS & iPadOS 15.5-16.6.1 & 17.0 support to the existing iOS & iPadOS 14.0-15.4.1 support.
TrollStore 2 officially released on Monday, bringing application perma-signing capabilities to a whole bunch of newer devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.5-16.6.1 and 17.0. The previous generation of TrollStore already supported iOS & iPadOS 14.0-15.4.1, so today’s update is a refreshing one that gives more users access to powerful features Apple doesn’t want them to have.
It would seem that Misaka isn’t the only package manager app providing an easy way to install the TrollStore 2 perma-signing utility on iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 16. Picasso, a popular jailed toolbox for installing add-ons and tweaks for non-jailbroken arm64e (A12+) devices running iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.6 beta 1 via the kfd exploit, has now done the same.
It was a big day for a lot of iPhone and iPad owners as iOS developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) officially released a much-anticipated TrollStore 2 with support for firmware newer than iOS & iPadOS 15.4.1 for the first time. But as we touched on in our announcement post, there wasn’t yet a way for all device and firmware combinations to install it, but Misaka developer @straight_tamago has just made it easier, at least for some.
TrollStore, the perma-signing utility that took iOS & iPadOS 14.0-15.4.1 by storm, received an update on Monday to version 2.0 with substantial changes, including the implementation of a new CoreTrust bug known as CVE-2023-41991 that adds support for iOS & iPadOS 15.5-16.6.1 and 17.0.
iOS developer leminlimez has just this week released a new add-on called Helium for both TrollStore and jailbroken devices running 15 and 16 that lets users add informative widgets underneath the Status Bar.
When Apple released iOS & iPadOS 17.0.1 just over a week ago, we also touched on comments made by TrollStore lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev), who claimed that a bug possibly similar to the one used by TrollStore had been patched in iOS & iPadOS 16.7 and 17.0.
If you haven’t already heard, there’s another package manager app for the MacDirtyCow and kfd exploits in town, and it’s called PureKFD. This project allows you to browse a whole host of repositories that support Misaka and Picasso-compatible packages.
If after using the TrollStore perma-signing utility you’ve decided that it isn’t for you or that you’d like to delete and re-install it for troubleshooting purposes, then you may need to know the best way to remove it from your device.
Many of our readers might be familiar with Cowabunga, an all-inclusive system customization app for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices that works by way of TrollStore or the MacDirtyCow exploit.
We previously showed our readers how to install TrollStore on non-jailbroken iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 with Sideloadly and TrollInstaller, but project developer Lars Fröder (@opa334) has since recommended a different method for installing TrollStore that works on all arm64e (A12 and newer) devices running iOS & iPadOS 14.0-15.6.1, 15.5 betas 1-4, and 15.6 betas 1-5 and arm64 (A9-A11) devices running iOS & iPadOS 14.0-15.6.1.
Most of the jailbreak community is starting to move to the rootless dynamic, and for users of rootful jailbreaks in the past, this may cause some growing pains for users of those jailbreak tweaks that haven’t yet been updated to support rootless.
