Saurik explains why jailbreaking should remain legal

Back in January we told you that the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) was asking for everyone's help in its fight to keep jailbreaking legal. It suggested leaving a comment on the Copyright Office's comment board to show your support.

Corona Jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 Updated to Fix iBooks

The release of the Corona untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 hasn't come with its fair share of problems, which led the Chronic Dev Team to update the tool a couple weeks ago to fix the Launchctl error.

Unfortunately, this update was not enough to fix all the problems inherent to Corona. The main issue that users have been experiencing is with the iBooks app, which would just display an error message at launch. We shared a few workarounds with you to fix this problem, but we knew an official fix was on the way...

Hacker “Dream Team” Makes Significant Progress on iPhone 4S Jailbreak

The dream team of p0sixninja, MuscleNerd, planetbeing, and pod2g have made more progress on the iPhone 4S untether, according to a tweet from pod2g this morning. pod2g also extended out special thanks to saurik for his major contributions to the long-awaited project.

It looks like the team has overcome one of the last major hurdles in preparing the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak for public distribution...

MobileSubstrate Updated to Fix Cydia Tweak Crashes on iOS 5.0.1 Untether

Jay Freeman (known as saurik) has pushed an update for MobileSubstrate that addresses the crashing of jailbreak tweaks from Cydia on the iOS 5.0.1 untether. Coincidentally, RedSn0w was updated this morning with a fix for MobileSubstrate crash errors as well.

Users that are jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1 can install version 0.9.3955 of MobileSubstrate now in Cydia to fix tweak crashes. Another huge perk is that MobileSubstrate no longer requires that you reboot iOS every time you install or upgrade the package.

Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Updated to Fix “Launchctl” Error

If you own an A4 device, chances are you spent your day jailbreaking. After months of waiting on a proper iOS 5 exploit, both the Chronic and iPhone Dev teams released untethered jailbreaks late last night.

There have been reports, however, of folks having some problems with the new untethers. One issue in particular, a "launchctl" error, has been fairly common. So Saurik has pushed out an update for the untether to fix it...

SemiTether Jailbreak Updated For Stability

The popular SemiTether jailbreak was updated to v0.9.1 this morning, and it's quite the update.

Working with Saurik, the team was able to fully incorporate the new mobile substrate, which allowed them to get rid of the daemon patching and restarting.

Mobile substrate now does all of the heavy lifting when it comes to the SemiTether. There's even an option to patch Safari to work in non-jailbreak mode now.

Perhaps most importantly, the new version of SemiTether will protect your iOS 5 Notification Center plugins...

Semitethered Jailbreak Updated with Bug Fixes and Speed Improvements

BigBoss has pushed an update to the semitethered jailbreak that brings multiple bug fixes and speed improvements. Version 0.7.9 of SemiTether is available in Cydia now for folks on iOS 5 that have jailbroken with a tool like RedSn0w.

The SemiTether jailbreak is being improved to make it a more viable contender to a full untethered jailbreak. BigBoss is working with saurik to improve his jailbreak alongside a mobile substrate Cydia update.
