One of the best task management apps available on iOS or the Mac, just received a fairly substantial update.
Things, a darling app among many Apple enthusiasts and the Getting Things Done crowd, receives support for the iPhone 5's larger display, support for iOS 6, and the ability to create new inbox items using Siri.

We told you about Checkmark, Snowman's upcoming location-aware organizer app for the iPhone, earlier in the month. Today, the program has finally landed on the App Store and can be yours in exchange for 99 cents. Checkmark bests Apple's stock Reminders app on many levels while ticking all the important boxes.
It one-ups Apple with triggers based on both location and time so you can, say, be alerted to pick up your laundry half an hour before you get to the mall or have that reminder about calling your wife pop up 15 minutes after you leave work. And if Reminders' illogical and inefficient user interface isn't your cup of tea, you'll definitely fall in love with Checkmark...
I know what you're thinking, yet another organizer app. Bear with me for a second, this is taking the concept of geofencing to a whole new level. Checkmark for iPhone focuses on geo-enabled reminders, it's got a remarkably efficient interface and works on devices that Apple's stock Reminders app doesn't support, such as older iPads and iPhones. That's all fine and dandy, but you'll be really sold on one standout feature...
Are you a developer? Have you visited the iCloud.com beta login page recently? In case you missed it, two new icons appeared at a beta login page for iCloud.com briefly before Apple took the beta page down. This clearly suggests Apple is working on bringing Notes and Reminders web apps to iCloud.
Folks also discovered references to an upcoming iOS 6 beta in the code strings for this iCloud beta page.
As we told you last week, Apple could be bringing iOS and Mac Notifications to the iCloud website. So it all makes sense now: Reminders and Notes apps, which are now available on iOS devices and are coming to Macs with Mountain Lion installed later this summer, will also be replicated on the iCloud web site along with web notifications.
Let's hope Apple will take the resulting notifications conundrum seriously...
The location-based aspect of the Reminders app is convenient but limited. As of now, all you can really do is setup reminders based on your current location or the contents of your Contacts app.

Reminders in iOS 5 is Apple's kick in the teeth for all those To-Do apps that litter the App Store right now. A walk through the App Store will reveal more To-Do apps than you can shake a stick at, but Apple's own Reminders app does pretty much everything you could ever need in iOS 5.
