Cleaning Up Your iPhone App Management with MultiCleaner

Do you hate how your iPhone leaves app icons in the multitasking bar even though they aren't running anymore? How about when you have to go through that tedious process to exit an app; click the home button twice, tap and hold an icon in the multitasking bar, wait for it to jiggle, and then click that tiny red delete button to quit.

Luckily, there are other people that feel the same way. MultiCleaner is a jailbreak app that relieves the cumbersomeness of managing your multitasking apps. In fact, the app's tagline is quite simple, "Because iOS 4 multitasking sucks..."

Omnio Reveals the “WOWKey” Keyboard With iPhone Integration

Does an iPhone-integrated keyboard for your Mac or PC sound interesting? The Korean tech company, Omnio, thinks so.

The WOWKey device is a desktop keyboard that boasts iPhone integration through a built-in dock. This "made for iPhone" keyboard is the first of its kind, offering extensive integration with iOS. This inventive gadget opens up a world of possibilities...

AppSwitch, the Ultimate System Utility for Your iPhone

Apple doesn't like for users to be able to see what's "under the hood." OS X and iOS are very design and aesthetically driven. Apparently, Apple feels that "viewing processes" is an archaic feature. There is no real way in iOS to get a bird's eye view of everything that's running on your phone.

There are, however, some of us out there who would like to know things like which processes are running and the current distribution of system memory. Luckily, App Switch, by XCool Apps, is here to remedy our need for total control...

Need More Proof that iOS 4.2 is Right Around The Corner?

I can't say I'm a big fan of Sudoku, but Big Bad Sudoku Book has piqued my interest due to it being one of the first iPhone Apps in the App Store that touts full support for iOS 4.2. If that's not proof that iOS 4.2 is mere hours or days away, then I don't know what is.

Although iPhone users running iOS 4.1 already have access to Game Center, remember that our iPad toting friends currently do not, along with many other features like multitasking, and folders. If Big Bad Sudoku Book's latest App Store approval is any indicator, I'd say that the wait is just about over.

iPad to Get iOS 4.2 in November

I hope you're not holding your breath on multitasking and folders for iPad because according to Steve Jobs, it won't be available until November of this year.

When Apple introduced iOS 4, they made it clear that it wouldn't be available for iPad until "this fall", so technically we're on schedule. Still, I would have expected something sooner than that.

During a live event today, Steve Jobs made a demo of iOS 4.2 for iPad. It looks good but nothing groundbreaking.

Among the new features expected in iOS 4.2, we have:

Multitasking Folders Printing - on a wireless network AirPlay - streams content to the new Apple TV Game Center Better email - unified inbox, threaded emails And more...

New Jailbreak Application Removes Selected Apps from the App Switcher

Are you confused by the title of this post? Yeah, me too, but I couldn't figure out how to clearly say what I wanted it to say. Anyways, now that I've got your attention, I want to talk to you about a new jailbreak app called Remove Background.

You might remember the Remove Background SBSettings Toggle we showed you a couple weeks ago. The Remove Background app works hand in hand with it.

Naturespace for iPhone Gets iOS 4 Update

With all the predictable and monotonous apps that flood the charts in the App Store, I am pleased to report that Naturespace Holographic Audio has been updated for iOS 4. Those who are unaware of Naturespace and its mesmerizing abilities ought not sleep on this gem any longer. Whether your a Buddhist or just need to free your mind, you will happy with the content you're rewarded with.

It works by using binaural techniques which means having two microphones spaced the same distance as your ears are apart. Using your best pair of earphones your body will be overtaken with a complete state of zen...

Multifl0w Brings Awesome Multitasking to the iPhone

We've talked about Multifl0w before, one the first jailbreak apps to give a multitasking UI to the iPhone. At the time, I wasn't really a fan because I thought that ProSwitcher was a much better application. Things have changed a lot since then. Apple developed their own multitasking feature, and ProSwitcher was left for dead by its developer who recently said he will not update it.

Remove Background Toggle for SBSettings

Remove Background is a new mod available in Cydia that adds a toggle to SBSettings allowing you to remove all apps from the task switcher, and kill apps processes at the same time. It's pretty handy because your app switcher can get messy really quickly if you recently opened several applications

I've been looking for a similar app for a while and although Remove Background works as advertised, I find it to be too "extreme" for me. I rarely (if ever) want to kill all apps at once. Instead, I'd like to be able to select in the settings what apps I never want to run in the background or appear in the task switcher. If you're a developer, feel free to use my idea...

What about you? Have you used Remove Background? What do you think about it?

Proswitcher for iPad Alpha Release Available

Proswitcher for iPad is now available in alpha release. Ryan Petrich, most likely my favorite jailbreak developer, just informed me that he made Proswitcher for iPad available to the general public instead of pushing the alpha to just a few users.

For those of you who don't know Proswitcher, it is a great jailbreak app that gives a nice and simple UI to Backgrounder, the app that first brought multitasking to the iPhone.

You can get Proswitcher HD (or whatever it will be called) on your iPad by adding the following source to Cydia: http://rpetri.ch/repo.

Be warned! This is an alpha release which means it can be very buggy. As soon as I installed the app, my screen froze, I hard rebooted several times until the issue finally disappeared. Other than that, I haven't had any issue.

I'm very excited to get Proswitcher on my iPad. That is one jailbreak app I was really missing.

Give it a try and tell us what you think.

Thanks to @MikeErickson for the tip.

App Switcher Circuitous Updated for iPad

The excellent Circuitous has been updated for the iPad. For those of you who don't know Circuitous, it is a custom app switcher that shows your open applications in a dock on top of your springboard from where you can easily and quickly launch and exit apps.

To get Circuitous to work at its best, you will need to install Backgrounder and Activator.

Circuitous previously made it in our list of best jailbreak apps for iPhone. Something tells me it's now going to make it in our list of best jailbreak apps for iPad.

ProSwitcher HD for iPad to be Released Soon

ProSwitcher, one of the best jailbreak apps that brought multitasking to the iPhone is about to be updated for the iPad. Ryan Petrich, the developer of ProSwitcher sent a tweet a few hours ago announcing the future release of the application.

For those of you who aren't familiar with ProSwitcher yet, it is a multitasking app for the iPhone that kinda replicates the Palm Pre “cards” feature by adding a very nice UI to Backrounder, the jailbreak app that allows you to run apps in the background.

I'm a big fan of Ryan Petrich's work in general, and specially of ProSwitcher which I consider a must-have application. I'm definitely looking forward the iPad release. So far, there is no estimated time of arrival but I doubt it will take too long.
