Pinterest app updated with the ability to view and pin GIFs

Pinterest, the popular social scrapbooking site, updated its iOS client today, bringing the app to version 3.4. The change log for the update only says "we just made Pinterest a little better for you," but the company's blog says they've added GIF support.

Users can now pin GIFs directly to their pinboards, which will show up in feeds (on the web, or within the mobile app) with a small play button. GIFs can then be played via mobile, shared to other social networks and of course repinned across platforms...

Pocket Casts updated with 64-bit support and other goodies

I still have yet to find the perfect podcast app that does everything I want, but most of them are good enough to get by. I will say that I seem to fare best with my podcast app flavor of the month, Pocket Casts.

There's a reason why Pocket Casts is my podcast app of choice, at least for the moment. It's fast, well designed, and its developers are quick on the draw when it comes to pushing out timely updates. Updates just like this one...

This iMessage prank got me going for a while

Earlier this week, Jeff played a really good prank on me. As I received a message from him, I opened up the Messages application and couldn't see anything but a typing indicator. So I waited patiently for Jeff to finish typing, figuring that Messages were having yet some other issues, which could have explained why I received an alert, yet didn't see any message.

Long story short, Jeff got me pretty good, and here is how you can get your friends too...

How to nest App Store preferences and Cydia preferences into separate folders

Do you find that your Settings app has been inundated with settings from various App Store apps and Cydia tweaks? If so, then you should consider checking out PreferenceOrganizer — a jailbreak tweak that nests both App Store apps and Cydia tweaks into separate folders.

PreferenceOrganizer is a simple and straightforward tweak that does just as its description says and nothing more. Take a look inside for more details.

LSFlatAlerts improves single Lock screen notifications

I don't know about you, but I've never been fond of the singular pop-up alerts that show up on the Lock screen when you receive a notification. It's singular, weird, and way too imposing for my tastes.

The thing is, once you receive a second notification, the view switches to a more attractive flat list view. I much prefer this multiple notification view over the solo view. Considering this, I was intrigued when I saw a new tweak — LSFlatAlerts — make its way to the Cydia store. It's a jailbreak tweak that makes all notifications, even single ones, appear in the more attractive flat list view.

LockscreenToggles lets you access your toggles directly from the Lock screen

LockscreenToggles is a brand new way to toggle various functions directly from the iPhone's Lock screen. It works by using swipe gestures. For instance, a simple swipe from right to left on the Lock screen clock reveals the toggles. A simple swipe down on the toggles reveals a list of available toggles.

With LockscreenToggles, you are required to have five toggles configured to display at once on the Lock screen, and these can be selected from a list of ten different toggles. Take a look inside for more insight...

RemoteTweet lets you share the Remote app’s now playing track

RemoteTweet is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to send a tweet advertising the song currently playing via the App Store's Remote app. The Remote app is an app that can be used to connect to local iTunes libraries on the same Wi-Fi network. This lets you control that iTunes library remotely using an iOS device.

With a combination of the Remote app and RemoteTweet, you can now easily advertise your now playing song via Twitter. This is despite the fact that the song is playing on a remote iTunes library, and not your actual iOS device.

Accentify tints iOS chrome, no WinterBoard required

Looking for a quick and easy way to add tint to the stock iOS chrome, but don't feel like bothering with WinterBoard? If so, then an upcoming tweak from @winocm may be of interest to you.

The tweak is called Accentify, and it allows you to select from eight different and highly vibrant tints to accentuate iOS. The tint applies to multiple areas, and its vibrant colors allow for a very distinct, almost candy-like look. Take a look inside for more information.
