Runtastic Pro is temporarily free in Apple Store app

Runtastic Pro, which normally sells for $4.99, has gone free exclusively through Apple's free Apple Store application for the iPhone and iPad (not to be confused with the App Store). The official Apple Store app is a sleek and awesome way to browse thousands of products carried on Apple's online and brick-and-mortar stores. It also offers exclusive deals: not just to Apple Store visitors, but to anyone who has downloaded the software to their device.

Case in point: last week, the gorgeous Rise Alarm Clock went free in the Apple Store software. This week, the app is offering Runtastic Pro free for a limited time. Again, this offer is exclusive to the Apple Store app: Runtastic Pro still costs money if you download it directly from the App Store. With that off my chest, here's how you can redeem your free copy of Runtastic Pro in the Apple Store app...

Autodesk’s SketchBook apps go free for the first time in Apple’s Free App of the Week promo

For the first time ever since debuting on the App Store back in the summer of 2013, a pair of excellent drawing and painting apps for the iPhone and iPad by Autodesk have gone free.

Both SketchBook Mobile — a professional-grade painting and drawing application designed for the iPhone and iPod touch — and SketchBook Pro for iPad— an authentic, natural drawing experience based on the same paint engine as its desktop counterpart — are available free of charge, for a limited time, courtesy of Apple's weekly Free App of the Week promo on the App Store.

That's a cool $7 saving right off the bat as SketchBook Pro normally sells for $4.99 and SketchBook Mobile is regularly $1.99...

Notifyr app goes free: receive iOS notifications on your Mac

Today seems to be the day for app discounts, as Apple is giving away Rise Alarm Clock, and now the developer of Notifyr, an app for receiving iPhone push notifications on your Mac, is giving his app away for free every other day for a week.

We first wrote about Notifyr on its launch back in May, and it took the tech community somewhat by surprise, as many thought Apple would remove it from the App Store per one of their many regulations. Regardless, it's been available for download at a $3.99 price tag up until today, as Notifyr has gone free for a limited time.

Now free in the Apple Store app: Rise Alarm Clock

As part of its ongoing push designed to increase foot traffic in its retail outlets, Apple via the free Apple Store app for the iPhone and iPad has so far given away free music, books, apps like 7 Minute Workout Challenge and the Rhonna Designs photo editor and games such as Tetris, Temple Run: Oz and more. Today, the beautifully done Rise Alarm Clock app by Kellen Styler has gone free via the Apple Store app, a $1.99 saving.

It's a great little piece of software with a gorgeous interface and a lot of smart features. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this offer. And if you passed on Rise Alarm Clock as the App Store's Free App of the Week a year ago, here's how you can grab it free of charge for a limited time, via the Apple Store app...

Good news for all of you aspiring musicians out there. In celebration of 40 years of Yamaha synthesizers, the company is offering a number of its iOS apps for free. This includes some smaller titles, like Set List Organizer, and more prominent ones like Cloud Audio Recorder.

We've listed 8 of the apps below (there may be others), which are normally priced between $1.99 and $15.99. Admittedly, many of them were built to compliment actual instruments, but some, like Mobile Music Sequencer, are fun to tinker with on their own as standalone apps...

Apple has named Hipstamatic's just-released video-capturing app Cinamatic its App of the Week for this week. This means that through next Thursday, you’ll be able to pick up the title for both your iPhone and iPad, for free—a modest savings of $1.

For those unfamiliar with the app, it essentially does for videos what Hipstamatic does for photos. Users can record short clips, between 3-15 seconds, and turn them into short films. Tools like lighting filters and social sharing are just one tap away...
